Yes. That was my biggest take away from this video. I wish my parents had told me this as a teen. I don't understand this since I feel more manly when I spend money on an American lady. So, should I just take her to a fast food joints on dates? It's hard to find a balance since men are told we should be protecters and providers
@rogandbingofbingalahtravel3680
@rogandbingofbingalahtravel3680 Жыл бұрын
@clydekimsey7503 it's a difficult balance, for sure! I think that as we mature we naturally grow into that inherent knowledge. A great book called "Man of Steel and Velvet" is an excellent read! Personally, I think it's like this..love a woman with everything you've got but, with patience, don't take ....!
@ferney2936
@ferney2936 Жыл бұрын
@@clydekimsey7503 women are like cats. If they think you have more power than them they'll rub themselves against your leg, sit in your lap & purr. If they think they have more power than you they'll eat you without a thought. This metaphor is obviously exaggerated but it's essentially true. There's nothing special about women that they need to be pandered to but they can be great companions in an even, balanced relationship while it lasts. Unfortunately it doesn't always last because they often want something more or something different before too long. There's a reason that she doesn't know what to buy you for your birthday & it's because you don't really hanker after anything. She, on the other hand, hankers after everything...and in all the colours & a matching handbag too. To your original question: on a first date, take her somewhere nice & show her that you like her. After that it's for her to show that she's interested in you too & if she is, then she won't have a continuing expectation that you treat her on every date. If you have sisters already, it's very helpful in making you realise that women are no more special or valuable than you are yourself. Sorry for the long spiel, Clyde

Pea, excellent information, as always! I could've used this about 10 years ago when I was in an LDR with a girl in Zamboanga. She had me convinced that she needed $500 a month for food, for herself her brother, and her mother. At the time I thought it was reasonable. But, then the pleas for extras started, uniforms for her nursing school, Mom was sick, bother was sick, dog was sick...etc. I eventually got wise and put an end to it. You will certainly be saving some good soul from getting bilked with this valuable info!

I have had a Family member sick, but it is always with Receipts, Pictures and other documentation, like the picture of the scar from where her brother's appendix was removed. And even then, she insisted that she pay the bill's last part. if she ever asks for money, it is always with documentation on the exact costs, what it's for, and if she will pay it back (a loan) or a gift. But not all are like that.

If you are just in an online relationship, be very careful about sending a Filipina that you've never even met money, especially on a regular basis. You may think you are getting a bargain by only needing to send her $150 a month but there is always a possibility that you are not the only one sending her money... she has you sending $150, another guy sending $150, and the one she likes the most is probably only sending $100. That's $400 a month for her... Ch-Chiing!

Remember: Generosity becomes expectation, expectation becomes dependency, dependency becomes entitlement, finally entitlement becomes DEMAND. You go from generosity to demand in a very short time. Eventually they will view the money you send them is OWED! This is the twisted reality of this culture. You must make very clear what you can and can not send. And NEVER make it a routine. They will turn on you the moment you stop sending. Even if the total amount of money is in the hundreds of thousands. Stopped payments will erase all of your previous generosity.

I’m kind of familiar with the province way of life. When my four sisters and I were growing up on a small farm in southern Wisconsin. We never had much. We never went anywhere except an occasional trip to northern Wisconsin to visit relatives. We never went out to eat, our father took us to a movie theater once and only once, and he just dropped us off. Our father was working most of the time, on farms and factories. We only saw him sometimes in the evening. Our mother was always with us, always cleaning and cooking. If she ever had any extra time, she would crochet a rug from old clothes torn into strips. Sometimes she would work on a 1000 piece puzzle. Both of our parents were almost nonstop hard workers. That’s probably why I never got or asked for any handouts from the government, except for unemployment benefits that I received for 3 months in the early 70s. Except for those 3 months, I’ve always had a job, and when jobs were getting very hard to find, I joined the army in 1974. Now I’m retired and living off a pension and social security. I plan on moving to the Philippines sometime soon.

My wife had to get her passport recently. It cost 1200 with rush processing. She lives a couple hours from the DFA in Tacloban so there is the expense of riding a bus to Tacloban and back around 1000. This is an all-day event where she leaves in the morning and comes back in the evening, so you have to account for 1-2 meals/snacks ~600. Now before she even went, she has to get an appointment with the DFA and getting one is a giant pain in the ass because of the appointment companies that sucks them all up and resell them at a 1000 per, 1500 if you want rush (can we say corruption?). To make that appointment she has to go to the town they are in which is another 200 pesos. There is probably more that I am forgetting but if you total that up you are at close to 4000-4500 pesos which is $72-81 USD, so $100 isn't too far off. As you can see once you add in all the other fees it can be close to that $100 amount. It isn't just about the cost of the passport but everything to get you there. Some of the documents you stated can even be paid for and ordered online without going to the BIR or DFA. I am not saying that your viewers GF wasn't scamming him, I would just have asked her to give an accounting of what all the money is for in that case. Communication is the biggest key here and my wife always lets me know how she spends my money there.

Your videos are so educational and entertaining! I spent a couple years living and working with Filipinos on overseas projects and thought I knew something of the culture (which I am in love with) and made a plan to retire to the PH after an online "dating" episode with a Filipina. That one didn't work out and I am on #3 now. The first one was actually older than me, and the second within ten years. The one I am beginning to form a relationship with is 35 years younger. The "Code book" was great, and actually I learned valuable things from all of them. I have another year before I can retire so I have time to let this newest relationship either grow, or die on the vine if it isn't right. Oddly, it seems to be the best one so far. Is it because I am learning more from the previous ones? Or is it because I have watched all your videos??? This young woman is from the province, and a "Mountain" girl as you described as being less attractive to Filipinos, but I can't take my eyes off her. Well, all that really to say thank you for your time and effort to educate us foreigners on the ways of the Pinay

A lot of Filipinas I have talked to claim they have to borrow someone else's cell phone to communicate with me. They are quick to quote a price for a new cell phone that I need to provide if we are to continue communicating. The quoted prices range from $200 to $350. I messed up and sent a young lady $350 to buy that much needed cell phone so she wouldn't have to keep borrowing her auntie's phone all the time. Wouldn't you know it, after she received the money, she got sick and had to spend all that money on a doctor visit and medicine. "Can you please send more money for a cell phone"... the words (and my empty wallet) still haunt me.

Money is both beneficial in providing wants, needs, and a comfortable standard of living, and it is also the root of all evil... There is no middle ground... Without strict discipline, money ends up being used for more wants than needs, and before you know it, you're living beyond your means or agreed budget, especially when you've never had much, and all of a sudden have a lot. Follow the average multi-million dollar lottery winner in the west over a period of a few years, and you will know what I mean... 🙂 Thank you for your valuable, common sense insight Pea! I hope you feel better!! 🙁♥️

I have zero drama. I moved to the PI just before covid. I spend my hard earned retirement money on me myself and I. I travel to a diff island and meet a Filipina but always cut off ties. No girl knows where I live. Life in the PI for me is fantastic.❤

This reminds me of the time I met a friend of my ex-girlfriend who was receiving a total of about $4000 (I saw the receipts) a month from 4 guys. I always wondered how a guy could be so stupid to send a monthly allowance but after meeting her, I understand somewhat. This girl was absolutely drop dead gorgeous, great personality, good conversationalist with a terrific sense of humor. She said she never asked for money...they offered. The only thing she felt guilty about was each guy thought they were the only one even though there was no commitment to her. She said she would continue this way until there was a ring on her finger. I can see how guys fall into the LDR trap but hopefully your video will have some guys rethinking what they send.

I have a lot of chat mates in the Phils and abroad. There are times I did send bits of money to them. I understand it doesn't mean I'm going to be with them, n most surely never even meet them. N for me that is okay, if they were going to pay me back or not didn't matter. But I was thankful that I could help them in some way even if I never see any reciprocation. I know its a lower income country so they probably needed it more than me anyways, haha.

@cr8zelegs

"Live like a king"...in comparison to the native people. Realistically, you're just going to live like you would normally live in your home country except it just costs significantly less to do it there. If you are vacationing then go all out, but if you are living there long term for retirement and are truly living like a king constantly in the Philippines, then you are probably spending too much. Those retirement checks don't go as long as people think.

No, to live like a kind, say you make 100K and have a good US lifestyle, in PH you will need 60K. A high end condo, say 3K square feet is $1 million USD. I am high income in US and for me I need a $6K a month in PH for bottom end, and sure you can live in a very small crappy condo that my cat would not be happy in, but high end stuff is almost non-existent in Philippines. Try to purchase highs end anything, good luck. It is very low quality good all over, Makati has higher goods or NCR's Mall of Asia, but most of PH it's not even possible to get high end things without huge hurtles. As Pea's videos has "not available sir" with limited choices. Want US food, you will pay more there if you can get it and that is hard to any selection. So if you want to live like an American in PH, prepare to pay big. You want nice hotel, Radisson Blue in Cebu, Fairmont in Makati, but these are $200 a night, but cheap places $20 a night that suck. JW Marriott in NCE is $35ish a night, but nice. Want great health care in PH, look for a unicorn, it is not there despite what it says, been in 25 countries, PH is bottom rung. Want girls, PH is terrific, Live like a king, pay like a king. I have business interests in PH as investor and in and out.

Good Morning Pea. First, I heard several bloggers talking about your Friday's post. It truly saddened them. This was really good information for today. I've been to Pampanga and a bit familiar with the cost of living there.. I actually live off of about $1500 a month here.. I don't have a car note and my house is paid for. I have a newer car and a truck. I seldom go out so my tires last for over a decade.. I actually amaze myself at my budget and how much I actually get. There is a vlogger there called "It's Me." That is how I would live, if I were to move there. Just so hard trying to find a good Filipina.

One of the most curious reactions with giving too much to someone is not only the lack of respect but the growth of ingratitude in the recipient which can lead to bitterness. This is a universal truth.

Yes Pea, you analysis is spot on as per usual. Indeed, despite the cost of living, It still remains extremely popular. We all know that money can't buy you happiness, but poverty can't buy you anything. All my friends are constantly complaining that I'm too frugal, but I'm not buying it: I ran behind a bus all the way home and saved £2.80 ! Got home, and my neighbour mocked me saying had I run behind a cab, I would have saved £16 ! Anyway Pea, there is always a light at the end of the tunnel, unless it might just be an incoming train. An optimist always sees the light in the end of the tunnel. But a pessimist sees nothing but dark in the same tunnel.
However, a realist sees light from any incoming train, while the engine-driver sees three idiots standing on the track. 😊 Sadly the light at the end of the tunnel in UK has been turned off due to budget cuts. So we’ll have to move to the Philippines where hopefully there are no tunnels ! 😘❤️

I have been sending her a thousand dollars every month since I left two years ago. I needed to see a doctor and do a few legal things. She was supposed to come after me and then the children later. Shortly after I left she is never available to talk. The only time she contacts me is about money for her , the kids, or the house. I am a fool and it hurts.

My wife was waiting on her U.S. visa with our daughter in 2017 and 2018. I asked her how much she needed and she requested $500 per month. That didn't seem like near enough to me, so I sent $700 per month. When I went back for our embassy interview, my daughter had nice clothes, toys, and plenty of food. My wife had this bag. STUFFED with boxes of 18 and 21 carat gold jewelry. I said, "Where did this come from?" She said, "I told you $500 was enough." 😂 We are now retired and living in Mindanao. Costs have increased since the pandemic, but we still only spend about $1,000 USD per month.

Like you said, most Filipinas won't ask for money. Even my wife, even though we've been together for 5 years, still has issues asking for money for different things. Even though my money is enough to cover everything, she still insists to work so that she can help cover expenses in the house.

I'm glad to hear it. I've been in an LDR for three months now with a woman from the province, quite poor, and I thought I would show my appreciation for her kindness and company by sending her $50usd per month. I figured it would help her out since she did not have a job yet. She never asked for money, by the way, it was my idea. Fast forward three months, she has used the money to get her SSS identity card for work, bought a ticket to Manila, and is now looking for jobs. Also, she does not want me to send her any more money, and in fact wants to pay me back! I'm speechless honestly... Cheers!

@@codyhaitch758 yep! Those are the good ones! $50 to us isn't very much money at all, but here, that's 2,500 pesos and that's 50+ kilos of rice that will help feed a family a 4 for a few months.

Thanks for the information. $290 is a bit high for poor provincial filipinos, imho. I help some poor filipino families. I try to aim low. Like 6k or 8k per month or just a big bag of rice so they still have an incentive to work but they don't starve. A 50 kilo bag of rice is 2500-3,000 pesos and that will feed a family for a month. Just a little extra for viand. I do not pay for medical expenses or medicine. They get better with or without medicine. And I also don't pay for school supplies. That should be free. But I do sometimes help with requirements so they can get a job. If someone is making unreasonable requests or is not grateful, just block them. You can always unblock them later, if you want to. Do not be afraid to do radio silence for a few days or weeks or months. That helps cure a poor attitude or unreasonable or excessive requests.
