I don't even earn this amount of money as a full-time teacher at a public school. I find your videos more and more appealing to consider teaching on italki on a full-time basis. I am truly enjoying Italki but feel like my full-time job is slaughtering my availability and my current italki student's are really in demand for more availability. My rate is also fairly low but I've managed to complete 31 lessons with 13 students. I think stability is also a major concern for me as certain bills need to be met. I hope with time I am able to venture off into a teaching space which seems much more appealing. Thank you for you valuable content.

Hey Theresa! Thank you for sharing your experience. 100% it’s tough for me to find much out there that pays as much as iTalki so that’s a major plus. That’s brilliant that you’ve taught that many lessons so far. Ideally, the stability comes with time. The tricky part is that it’s tough to get many lessons without so much availability, and it’s hard to offer much availability without virtually quitting your job lol. Like one big knot. In any case, keep opening slots bit by bit and hopefully you’ll make some good side cash in any case. Thanks for watching and best of luck!

Online teaching seems to be the future, I'm earning twice the amount off of iTalki as I would working full time in countries like Japan, Spain, Norway and the US where the minimum wages are pretty fair (excluding the US).

I like your content. And this video gave me some optimism, because I'm in italki since May 31 but still have no students, Probably because it's summer and the pandemic is going to end, so students wanna enjoy their times, fair enough, plus, I think that there's more students who want to learn English than those who want to learn Arabic, anyway, keep up the great work. :)

@EnglishTeacherRyan3 жыл бұрын
Hello! I used PayPal at first but it’s too pricy (I think 2%). I chose to use Payoneer because they had a flat rate. Ultimately, it depends on how much you’re withdrawing. Hope that helps.

I am in the process of applying to iTalki, but would also like to eventually live in Ireland. Can you tell me what legal hoops you had to go through in Ireland? What were the residence requirements?
@EnglishTeacherRyan3 жыл бұрын
Hey Virginia! I’m THRILLED to hear you’d like to live in Ireland. 🇮🇪 Despite being a proud Canadian, there’s no place quite like the Emerald Isle (but don’t tell anyone I said that 🤫). Anyway, my girlfriend and I went over on a two-year working-holiday visa. We had the time of our lives. Unfortunately, we came back as we found it difficult to settle there, especially as an ESL teacher on iTalki. And, of course, because I missed my home. 🇨🇦 If you have Irish descendants (parents / grandparents), you’re in luck! You can get a passport through them. 😃

Do you think I could be successful if I wasn’t a native speaker and wasn’t certified

It's definitely possible, and there are successful tutors on iTalki to prove that. You may just need to be more innovative and do more research than certified teachers, potentially.

Very helpful video, thank you! :) i have one question, as I am teaching on italki too (german) and i have some students now who have been loyal and constantly booking my classes I feel bad to raise my prices for them. But as I have a lot of those old students who are constantly booking, I will never be able to make more money then (if I don't raise my prices for them). Do you have any experience with that? How do you handle this problem? Thanks for your answer in advance :)

Hey Joey! I'd say that it's not absolutely crucial. However, I've had some noticeable success in leaving feedback. As in, some students have immediately rebooked after giving feedback.
