Grand-tastic video(s) for fun look back on any pics u have of the 1st dresser. Its most likely 1890s 1910 .Note no dust catch , thick secondary woods . Gingerbread legs .and not sure what was under the white splotches but all that was match grain mahogany veneer. ( hard to find)The antique knobs as u know have a built in dowels. (Usually pre 20s ) Sometimes it runs all the way through the drawer .If it does just drill it out from behind less work.easy replug and knobs wont split at base. Keep going. Fun-tastic eye u have .

IF you have a few items, and they need to get a primer. Try to plan to paint them at the same time, then you will save time. During 'dry time', you can make plans, get more items, work on something else, think of how to advertise/make photos/arrange the item... You have interesting videos. I hope you get a good profit.

Regret is a hard pill to swallow. So if you don’t at least try you’ll always wonder what could have happened. Start with a piece that you would keep for yourself if it doesn’t sell. I was afraid too but I did it anyway. I did it afraid. I believe you can do it! ❤️

I would have liked to know how many hours you spent on each piece and the hourly rate you’ve been shooting for. A $120 profit isn’t enough if you pay yourself $40/hr and it took 3 hours to do the job. Transportation costs should also be factored in.
@stephaniem895 Жыл бұрын
Not to mention time to research, pickup/curate the pieces
@DominickGorden Жыл бұрын
That’s going to depend on how you are doing it I guess. You could have multiple pieces to work on while one thing dries and work 8 hours a day 5 days a week if you average 3 projects at a time twice a week averaging 150 profit per piece ur making 900 a week.
@beebuzz959 Жыл бұрын
@@DominickGordenDo realize since you're working for yourself you're also not getting benefits an employer would pay you. So unless you're using the money to supplement, it's a good idea to factor in other costs you'll be out of if you don't include them. For instance, taxes, SS, health insurance, and retirement. I only mention this so people don't screw themselves.

Great flips!! Question… The rattan pieces you painted came out soooo smooth!! 1. Did you use a roller afterwards or just the paint brush? 2. What type of brushes are those? (I loved the size of them). 3. What’s your favorite top coat brand & sheen that works well over white pieces also? Thanks so much!!!
@GirasolVintage Жыл бұрын
Thank you for asking all their great questions! I only used a paint brush and it’s a by Zibra. I use varathane polyurethane in satin to top coat all my pieces. I only use use water based products so if that piece is white and you use any other top coat besides water based poly, it will get yellow with time. Thank you!

@GirasolVintage I understand some people like paint but as a refinisher why stain the top and paint everything else? Does it sell better? is it just cheaper that way? easier? I have always thought solid wood pieces look best in wood colors, either natural or stained but I am new to the flipping side so any advice is appreciated!
@GirasolVintage11 ай бұрын
Great questions! Yes they do sell better when you leave the top or some aspect of the piece with that natural look. It is not cheaper or easier that way, as a matter of fact it’s more time consuming than just painting. I like stained only pieces but they do tend to not sell as fast as painted pieces.

@GirasolVintage11 ай бұрын
Great question! Labor takes me longer because I have to stop and start many times throughout the process so I can film and post the content. It wouldn’t be fair for my customers to pay for the entirety of labor but I do add a portion of it. ❤️

Thank you for sharing however, you need to understand your labour costs and account for the hours involved.
