Thank you for this. I have been looking for this particular topic for a while now. Lately, I've been wondering whether I'm on track or getting left behind. But I can't rely on blogs because everything I've seen is in dollars, and you can't just convert into pesos because it would not be the same. At least from your content, I found out that I AM actually on track with my net worth. ^_^

I like how unintimidating you introduced all of the steps you need to take, especially the ones in your 20s (particularly in investing). Giving us a semi-specific figure to work towards to and specifying the steps is really helpful. I also appreciate how you considered the median and not the average salary, because a lot of people start off with a low salary, most of the time lower than 22K even. Thanks for this video, Charm!

I love your videos and your personality. As an American who comfortably retired to the Philippines at the age of 35, I have to say the earlier you can invest the better. Aside from your emergency fund and any savings you will need for short-term goals, there is no point in keeping excess cash in your bank account. The rate of inflation will outpace wages so it's best to invest excess capital into the market in order to keep pace with inflation.

I'm in my early 20's, graduating student and currently doing a side hustle. Since I don't have enough funds to save up, I'm just gonna save time by learning this now so when time comes I'm earning a lot I can build up my emergency fund and set an investment. As of now, I do have personal finance tracker and sobrang helpful like I can sleep peacefully knowing where all my money went haha Thank you for this informative video. You are really my go to vlogger as well as Nicole Alba when it comes to personal finance and investment.

I just turned 30 at walang emergency fund, walang assets and properties, still living with my parents. And I'm not from a rich family. (Been living from paycheck to paycheck) I hope I can catch up to what I should've been saving already. My friends are all successful and have their own families, so I kind of isolated myself so that I can start to progress on my own pace. Thank you for this video Ma'am.

This is a good guide. The median income based approach is a good yardstick. But I think a net worth/ expenses -based approach is better. A retirement fund is a personal goal. Hence, it is a question of your own present lifestyle (i.e., net worth/expenses) vis-a-vis the lifestyle you envision yourself having in the future (i.e., how much money do you really need to sustain said lifestyle). It would also be good if you factor in inflation in your computations. I envy young people who see content like this. I was so late to the investment game that I had to make extreme effort and sacrifice to reach my own investment goals. I guess I'll end by saying don't be discouraged by what little money you save. Let the concept of time value of money be your friend. The money you earn or invest now will always have better value and utility that what you will earn or invest in the future. Learn to live on less. Lastly, always strive to learn new things; knowledge is power.

Im 31 years old and already retired. I had a good paying job in states and i started investing durung my younger years. To make things simple just be happy, have a budget, have a plan, save as much money as you can, invest and live below your means. In the end you wont have any regrets if you know that youve saved up most of your money. Try saving 80 to 90% of your income. If your bills are big try increasing your salary. The goal is to keep increasing your salary so that you can go big in investing so that when the right time comes you withdraw a portion of it and just chillin while others are still working theirselves to the ground.

This is a best guide for someone like who does not know about financial management. Thankfully, I am still in my 20s and it is indeed very helpful for me to lessen my anxiety of not having a savings when I turn 30. Also, I just started working with a very low annual income which also help me to start low and slowly aiming for a bigger income and investment to the following years of saving. Also, my minimalistic mindset helps too. Thank you so much for you videos Ate Charm

The best advice I heard in this video, at 14:10 , is invest in the US Stock market. If Philippines believe Americans are wealthy, then do what Americans do. Americans earn more income, but their living expenses are more. Their savings are invested in the US Stock market which are American companies. You can invest in the US Stock market from the Philippines. Open online account with an established company like Fidelity or Vanguard. I personally like high tech, thus invest in index funds in high tech, FANG, or just follow Warren Buffet.

Don’t forget to tell everyone that whatever you saved for your emergency fund/ and retirement fund DOES NOT mean you should use those for big purchases like weddings etc. Then you have to start over and your compound from your 20s is redundant

Hi Charm! Great insights to how much money a typical Filipino should aim for to have a secure, if not comfortable retirement. I also liked how you acknowledged the skewed distribution of wealth here in the Philippines. You are correct to use the median income value instead of the average salary :) Lastly, great citation in the description. :) Now, I am a 30-year old moustachian myself. I am currently thinking of creating a quick video on the same concept of “how much money should we really have per decade milestone”. Would it be alright if I point to some of your key pointers here in one of my future videos? It’s just that it’s already so distilled and such a great reference for basic personal finance.

It hurts that the the median salary for PH in a month is only 22,000. The reason why Filipinos do not save enough for their retirement is due to this low af salaries. Products keep increasing in price every year and yet salaries stay the same. The only way Filipinos can still manage to survive is due to having multiple income household. It's really importantly to have good governance. Without regulations, companies will continue to exploit the working class. We're doing similar work as other countries and yet we get a fraction of their salaries. :(

How to be u po talaga :( I don't know if you had a book already but I think you will blow Robert Kiyosaki just to be very honest Dear.
