Thank you, Josh, for your good sharing. On First Sentier Bridge Fund, the annual return of the past five years is only a pathetic 1.47%. I think S&P ETF will make better sense for anyone with more than five years to invest.

No probs :) Buy what is good value and wait. It may be a better approach than what is popular and has done well. FSBF has not done well because of Asia equity. Asia was outperforming in 2005-2010. Is that good value now or is that doomed to remain a bad choice?

Just buy ETFs, the fancier the name of the fund, the more likely it's full of sht. Never pay sales charge

The last method. 3 yrs into cash holdings at 2.5% returns while the balance is puy into funds with 5% returns. So the assumption is that when the 1st allocation if cashback used up, funds are liquidated right? What if the timing is not good at that point of time? How much to liquidate? 1 yr, 2 yrs, 3 years worth of cash? Then the cash holdings of above $200K at 2.5% returns is a waste if opportunity from my perspective. Even if the 200+ K can attain 2% more, that's 4 to 5K more of returns per year. Anyway, just my thoughts

Valid. It's true, there are decisions to make on selling. Hopefully when equity markets are poor, there is patience to hold. Selling of stocks (unsure which to sell) is even harder than selling broad based approach (can be sold % terms)

Hi josh, good video. Just a little confused on why the full retirement sum payouts is not subtracted in the fixed expenses?

@@joshconsultancy hi, just a general question. Since the buckets covering age 65 to 85 will be covered by the cpf life monthly payouts, wouldn't we be able to deduct that portion of fixed income from those buckets?

Wonderful video! Super helpful! Thanks a ton. One question-was under the impression that SRS withdrawal have to be completed by age 72. From this video it seems 10 year window only starts from the first withdrawal. As an example, if I make my first only at they age of 65, I can go on until 74 to withdraw all. Is that a correct understanding?
@joshconsultancy
@joshconsultancy Жыл бұрын
Correct. "on or after the statutory retirement age" If you are working at age63 dont withdraw yet coz 50% adds to earned income. Ideally wait till retired. Hope it clarifies

the "other expenses" category is unrealistic and inflates the total figure. If one is planning for retirement, getting a car is out of the question, especially in Singapore, unless it is a tool to help you make more money. 200k for kids wedding ... that is their own and guest (angbao) problem. For kids, we are responsible up to their tertiary education. Period. 100k reno at 65? Just rent it out and take an extended 'holiday' JB for a couple of years. At the end of the lease, reno and move back in if you still want to. :) SGD50k/y in Malaysia or Thailand can go a long way, rent included. Will this work?

Can can... =) Adjust it to each and every person's situation See these as simulation points because hey in simulation the person is age55 and many at age55 still want to drive
@EventH
@EventH Жыл бұрын
@@joshconsultancy Yeah, that's right. There's a distinction between wanting to drive and needing to drive, just as there is between wanting to prepare for retirement and needing to prepare for retirement. I'm just worried that a significant amount of advice from retirement planning experts suggests that individuals require SGD1 million or more to retire. This kind of messaging only adds to the stress and pressure, especially during times of economic uncertainty. These sound bites often get repeated and quoted out of context, contributing to overall dissatisfaction.

Hi Ryan, discounting capital of $60k/y for 5 years + $20k/y for 5years (averaging out the car of $100k) by 2.5%pa
