I must of watched a dozen videos on this topic and the light finally came on after watching yours.

This is one of the most difficult concepts for some DIYers to understand but it is crucial to do this when using professional products. It’s also one of the reasons that battery powered broadcast sprayers are preferable. Consistency is so important with these products, not only for them to be effective, but also to remain legal.

Can use this same method for my adultacide and nygard applications?
@domyown Жыл бұрын
Yes, this same method can be used when mixing a couple of products together.

Let me see if I understand. My backpack hand powered sprayer delivers 1 gal in 4.5 min . thats super slow . The product I use calls for 4 oz per thousand sq ft. Using up that gal to apply 4 oz of product is a really slow pace( a crawl) for 1000sq ft (single) pass . ; to apply at a normal walk pace I would have to go over the same area until the 1 gal was used. To speed up application walkpace, cut the water amount down 2qts, to 2 minutes to cover the 1k sq ft .? hows that sound ? or would you stay with the gallon and go over and over and over the thousand sq. until tank is empty ?

The rates sound correct for you. Keep in mind that the amount of water is not what is important, is the amount of product that needs to cover 1000 sq ft. If it takes you 1 gallon to cover 1000 sq ft that is enough water. 2 qts is typically not enough water per 1000 sq ft. The water acts as a carrier to get the product to cover 1000 sq ft. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

Please reply. Are you saying regardless of how many Oz/gallon, it’s really the ounces/1000 feet that matter? E.g. i have a 3 to 4 gallon sprayer. If my lawn requires liquid chelated iron (or any other micronutrients) of around 10Oz/1 gallon/1000 sq feet I can also put 10Oz/3 gallon/1000 sq feet so that I have enough time to spray more evenly?
@domyown4 жыл бұрын
Yes, the amount of water when spraying isn't the important part. What matters is the amount of product over a defined area like 1,000 sqft or an acre. This is what most products will use if you are applying a herbicide, fungicide, or insecticide. Water is just the carrier and you may have products that will say to use at least this amount or no more than this amount of water per 1,000 sqft. Usually, the better coverage "the more water you use" the better the results will be. Please let us know if you have any questions.

DoMyOwn My question is specifically for those products that say to use XX Oz per only ‘1 gallon/1000 sq ft’. Can we use more than a gallon so that we have enough time to spray? From what I have seen liquid iron can be mixed with more than a gallon unlike micronutrients which specifically mention only the gallon/1000 sq ft volume.

I use my Stihl SR450 to spray my yard and I won’t admit how much Trimec Classic I apply! Definitely at the high end of the scale 🤫
@domyown4 жыл бұрын
We do not recommend using mist blowers to apply herbicides, especially post-emergents. Trimec contains active ingredients that will damage desirable trees, shrubs, and other ornamental plants, and the risk of drift when using a mist blower is extremely high. We suggest a hand pump or backpack pump sprayer for the best herbicide applications. Let us know if you need assistance selecting a sprayer. Also keep in mind that applying too much herbicide for the size area you are treating and for your desirable turfgrass can result in damage to your turf.

I would never spray where I’m walking…, that’s just crazy.
@domyown Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your feedback! This video is on sprayer calibration so here we are spraying with just water in this video. When you do go to spray a product, you should always wear closed toed shoes, socks, and long pants and walk backwards so you are not spraying yourself.
@mrdobalina3451 Жыл бұрын
@@domyown demonstrating the technique people should be using would be more logical. I say this because their gait will probably be different if walking backwards which will throw everything out. If they use the same technique to calibrate as they use normally then there should be no difference.

Far too complicated and nonsensical. I don't even have a thousand square feet of lawn. What I do have is just not going to be weed free. Lawns are a scam
