Thank you Pete! I consider myself a math person, but it wasn’t until you said “finished solution” that it all clicked for me. I appreciate the time and effort you put into teaching the DIY lawn community.

Pete, as a career educator, you did an awesome job teaching. I hope a follow-up video is next with Tammy and Sadie measuring off 1000 sq ft and spraying a gallon of water. Get that walking pace down. The hands-on step reinforces your first lesson. LOL Awesome video my friend and explains well. I am sure you have helped many with this one.

What a great exercise! My profession is in tax, and I often practice explaining “complicated” things in simple terms to people that aren’t in my profession. You’re a good teacher and I’m thankful that you share the knowledge that you’ve gained through all of the hard work you’ve put into your passion! My yard is looking good and a large part is due to you!

Love the idea of 1/2 gallon per 1k, never thought about it that way. I feel 1 gallon provides adequate foliar coverage, only concern I’d have going 1/2 gallon is if I speed up my pace I’d apply too light of a foliar spray and get a weak application. Will test run the 1/2 gallon method with PGR. Thanks for the tip! 👍

And when Petes explaining things....he's doing it from years of applicators experience. Great stuff here Pete. We can all learn something every day. Just have to invest the time. They called ya on the "simple math" comment too...LOL> You had to back out of that one pretty quick. Nice tap dance. Have a great weekend. Great information! I’ve been using a 2 gallon battery powered sprayer for 2 seasons now. I have 6000 sq Ft of centipede broken down into 3 2000 sq Ft sections. At 1 gallon per 1000 I have to refill and mix 3 times to do the entire yard. I ordered your Flow Zone Cyclone 4 gallon sprayer today. My goal is to learn to do the entire lawn with one filling. If I’ve understand this, I should use 1/2 gallon per 1000 sq Ft. With my 6000 sq Ft lawn I would use 3 gallons of water/product to do the entire 6000 sq Ft? Looking forward to the Flow Zone!

Definitely need to know the #’s Pete. Cup=8oz. Pint=16oz. Quart=32oz. 1/2 gallon=64oz. gallon=128oz. Then there’s the amount your sprayer is applying per 1000 or acre of water. I’ve been at this for 32 years. Did I completely understand how to calibrate 32 years ago ? I’ll tell you I depended on help from my suppliers back then. I’ve learned a lot in my 32 years. I’ve helped some of my competitors that I’m friends with to get their spray rates right.

I REALLY need to test the nozzle that you sent me for my My4Sons sprayer so that MAYBE... I can ACCURATELY and evenly cover my 10Ksf in 8 gallons. Humic and RGS, I'm at 1 gallon per 1Ksf. Bifen, herbicides and fungicides... I've covered in 8 gallons. Most likely, because I can't see the product on the ground, I'm leaving untreated turf in between passes... but IDK for sure. Have a blessed evening and Friday.

Great stuff, just ordered my typhoon 2.5 from your site today. Before watching your calibration videos today, I was just doing 1 gallon/1,000 with the right amount of product but then once I hit 4,000 square feet (front yard) and still had finished solution I would just go back over the same 4,000 area in a different walking pattern. I guess it sort of works although maybe I’m applying heavier in certain areas than others using this method?

Good job Pete! You could have went one step further to add how an individual could figure out their pace-or how to estimate how long it takes them to cover a 1000sf since everyone’s sprayer and spray tip is different. They could fill their sprayer with water, one gallon or as many gallons as their sprayer holds. Next spray while walking at their preferred pace and spray the water on a dry driveway, sidewalk,or road to cover a measured 1000 square feet with water. Now they know how many minutes it takes to spray per 1000 sf.

Wouldn't it be much easier than you described? Follow the directions per 1000 sq ft. Put in the amount of product you want for the sq footage you are covering in one trip, then just fill the backpack up and use it all evenly on that area. Only measure the product.
