I hope to find one eventually and I am born and raised in Kentucky so there is a chance I could find one I hope. I just got back from my not so local but excellent beer, wine and liquor store and bought a Blade and Bow key 1 and key 2 to go with my key 3 I have that is still sealed. I also picked up a bottle of Maker's Mark for a mixer bourbon and a Old Foresters 1920 Prohibition style to replace a fallen soldier. I think I'm going to start making lamps out of my old bottles and try to recoup a little cash from the bottle that gave much joy.

great vid dudes! while i understand the fun of chasing allocated and unicorns, ive recently tried to shift my expectations to the fact that there is a LOT of bourbon on the shelves and: 1) Its overall better to look for findable tasty beverages. 2) Dont get TOO attached to a bourbon, even if its currently avail, because when the bourbon community 'hive minds' around a bottle, it can and does disappear (looking at you McHenna 10). 3) figure out a general wheelhouse to help guide you to new bottles..for me its 100+ proof and whenever possible, age statements between 7-12 yrs. This process led me to find and love the Knob 12 and Bakers 7 recently.

Thanks for being the adult Dan. Prices are getting out of hand. I think more of these whiskey channels, that I enjoy, has in some way helped with the increase of prices. It's tough because without these great channels, a lot of people would not know about certain bottles, including myself, but on the other side the social media is the fastest form of word of mouth. Demand goes up extremely fast which results in higher prices. There are other factors and this is just one of them. I'll still buy what I can and keep watching BJ's. Cheers and thanks

I'm glad I got two when I could, because I fear it will become just as hard to find as BTAC. Regarding that though, I think one influence for that is - ironically - all the coverage it is getting in WhiskeyTube. Which is not bad really; I mean it deserves the hype. For me, a special occasion bottle is one that's over $100. There's too much out there that's too great in that $60-100 range that's usually available where I'm going to try too hard for anything. For instance, I used to buy Weller 12 for $30 or even less. I love Weller 12. But, I'll be damned if I'm going to spend $300 on that. Weller 12 is not a special occasion whiskey for me. My current special occasion whiskey (and probably my next) is Garrison Brothers Balmorhea, which retails for $160-200 in most places that have it (I'll drive down to the distillery and pick up a bottle on release day myself, though). I will have to check out that Blue Run at some point, though.

Stagg 2020 - how much I paid: $110, how much I would pay: $400 Neither Old Carter or Blur Run are available at retail in my area, so I HAVE to go to Secondary for both of those. @@BourbonJunkies, Ha! You're telling me. The San Antonio market is weird. I loaded up on Discovery #3 and #4 and was fighting no one for it. I was taking samples to all of the bourbon people in town and had to basically force it down their throats. "You tasted that sample yet?" "Nah, I haven't gotten to it." "You better hurry up. I know two places that have it." But Blanton's? Can't find it. I think Kentucky is probably the best state for bourbon hunters. You can find most bourbons there. I hear it is horrible for scotch and rum, though. What California has that Texas doesn't is very lax shipping laws. If you see it online, you can get in CA. I see stuff I want all day long online, but 90% of online retailers won't ship to TX. When I can find something in TX, it is usually some of the best pricing in the country. So it is a tradeoff between spending very little on the stuff I can get here vs. spending a ton on the Secondary Market.

With $250 which bottle would you buy, a Cigar Blend or a JDSBBP Rye? Right now it is easier to find a CB in the wild.

Honestly I think the JD rye is the way to go. They'll keep making more cigar blends, that JD is limited and honestly amazing.

Question: My wife is on the verge of landing her career (rn)capping job, if she lands it what would suggest for a BT, Blanton, 4 Roses person in the 100 max range?
