In terms of speedboosters, potatojet has a video on the canon m50 version of the viltrox speed booster but I think they sell a micro 4/3 version For lenses to put on the speedbooster, you'll need full frame EF lenses not APS-C EF-S. ZigsVision depending on your situation, if you’re getting video jobs, then the Rokinon Cine lenses are a no-brainier. They’re so cheap, and the image is so fucking tasty that it’d be a bad idea not to invest in them for professional work. I was originally doing work for friends and family who worked for or knew people with businesses so I was just using my kit lenses and the 50mm, but then I started to do more work on a higher level so I wanted to get some more lenses that would make the image quality not only better, but more consistent (since the 50mm and the kit lenses have a different look, but the Cine lenses have a more consistent look). I loved them, and that’s why I decided to go for the Xeen lens instead of an L-series or something like that. The build quality of the Cine lenses aren’t as good (a bit of plastic here and there) but from my experience, it’s 100% worth the lenses, and they boost the production value and it looks fucking awesome to have a set of lenses like that. As long as you don’t have a problem with adjusting things every now and then you’ll love them.

Gene at ~$1500 range - Canon, a6400, Panasonic, compact mirorless cameras Blackmagic: - Am I a joke to you?
@thatcherfreeman4 жыл бұрын
I know you're making a joke but he's lumping in the cost of a lens. Most bmpcc4k users use a speed booster so that kinda puts it out of the 1.5k range on its own, but any decent mft lens like the Panasonic 12-35 is going to bring it up to about 2k as well.

Good lord this is the perfect video. I was about to make a video like this myself because nobody is being simply honest about the most efficient ways to spend money for getting good photos/videos. They compare 5 identical DSLRs and act like that's even helpful for less-informed consumers. Much more useful to compare wildly different products. phones? action cams? mirrorless? DSLR? bridge? etc.

I think I saw Gene in a lot of videos talk really good about it. What holds me personal a bit back with this cam: I have the feeling you need a lot of accessories to get most out of this cam, so the price goes up as well. The cool about a cam like the eos r is that you get a good all around package with the stabilisation, the nd filter adapter, auto focus and the small size. So it's pretty easy to use. (I know the eos r the best so I take it as reference). Of course with the black magic you can get a better picture (raw), and of course better 4k. But you allways need to pull focus manually, grad raw footage a lot etc. So sometimes you need a bit more time with it. But as allways, every cam (especially in this price range) has it's pro and cons.

There was a 30 min record limit, but you can download a program on it to bypass that and since I shoot in HD, it doesn't overheat. You can get that package for under $1,000! Highly recommend!

Lots of people buy cameras before they've made anything. I think a nice policy is to shoot with what you have first, then step up. Sure, compressed codecs suck, but you can get away with them if you're careful about lighting. I still remember spending ages setting up a shot with a phone and putting a zoom h1 in just the right place, only to miss focus and never check it. Definitely the wrong time to buy more expensive gear.

Canon cameras are surely nice, but if you already got Nikon glass, the Z6 is a good choice. The option to crop to DX format (x1.5) while maintaining 4K makes your lenses more versatile. With the 24-70 you can go up to 105mm at 2.8 which I really enjoy for tighter shots from my gimbal.
