Wow I love how you analyzed your sleep pattern throughout medical school. That's pretty cool. For a sleep addict like me, sacrificing sleep was the most difficult part of med school😭
@ThatMedic7 жыл бұрын
sleep is funny! sometimes i get alot of sleep and feel exhausted, other times i get none and feel bright and alert. I think the trick is to keep your sleeping pattern consistent. always getting 6h is better than getting 5-10h over the week? has anyone else noticed this?
@ducanhduong65267 жыл бұрын
London's Journal yeah. ikr. must keep it consistant

The hardest thing for me was always turning my brain off at the end of the night. I would find myself subconsciously reviewing the info from that day. This is where Mindfulness Meditation really helped me out. Anyone else ever try Mindfulness? Great stuff as usual, Jamie!
@victoriaclaire42737 жыл бұрын
mefarrellii TV Hi. Can you tell me more about the meditation please?
@thedoctorslounge15217 жыл бұрын
Victoria Claire Definitely! So the idea is that we often go through our day thinking about what we did yesterday or what we have to do tomorrow and loosing sight of the present moment. This is called mindlessness. In mindfulness you work on focusing yourself on the present moment by focusing on your breathing and training your brain to ignore intrusive thoughts like, "What enzyme initiates glycolysis?". I would recommend the book, "Wherever You Go There You Are" by John Kabatt-Zinn. However I know people are busy and would be happy to make a video if there was enough interest. I hope that helps a little!

I'm surprised you get as much sleep as you do, they make it out to be that every med student is sleep deprived and suffering (maybe it's subjective though/different for everyone). Nice video.

rubat0 I think it comes down to time management. When I started nursing school 2 years ago, I was told to say goodbye to my sleep schedule and social life. I followed exam blueprints and studied regularly and found after my first year I still got sleep? I still had friends? I think it's the people who pull all nighters and find themselves catching up on studying that tell people students in medical disciplines that it's normal to be sleep deprived

Biology
@mzjackofalltrades217 жыл бұрын
What Ever biology, hands down. You'll be more prepared with that knowledge and skill set. Mechanical engineering will develop perseverance and good study habits needed for med school, but (I believe) will not give you an advantage academically. Best of luck!! 😊

How can I do to sleep more? I am in high school and I sleep like 4-5 hours per night T.T This is my routine. I wake up at 4am. I take a shower, I get ready for school. And then I take breakfast. I leave my house at around 5:45 - 4:50 and I arrive school at 7:00 am. I stay there until 2:30pm. T.T And I come back to home at around 4pm. I eat, which takes me 1 hour. So start to do my hw and to study at 5pm. If I want to sleep at least 6-7 hours, I need to go to bed at 9-10pm . From 5pm to 10pm I just have 5 hours to: study, do homework, study english (note that I am not a native english speaker haha), study german, work out, read in english and spanish, time for myself :C I feel that 5 hours are not enough for all those things.

Hi Jamie, I'm just looking for some advice from either you or someone that can help. I am a sophomore premed major currently with a 3.6 GPA. That is just for this semester. My freshmen year was a complete trainwreck. I got a D and a C- in Intro to Bio and a C- and a C in Intro to Chem. I really want to go to medical school but I am not sure if that is just too far out of reach for me at this point. My advisor isn't being very helpful so Im not sure what to do. Should I retake these courses along with fixing my Organic chemistry grade? I believe I read that the AAMC takes all transcripts. So if i take these courses at another college over the summer, they wouldn't replace the grades but I could do way better. Overall i am just looking for some sort of guidance because I am lost HELP Thanks, Love your videos
