No it's not. GA is based on the internship+residency and practice of doctors, which comes after med school. Also, a lot of the things that happen on GA are far fetched and would NEVER happen during someone's residency. Some of the events that happened like between Izzy and Denny would've gotten a person IRL fired and thrown in prison with their license to practice removed forever.

Emily Goodroad My biggest question about Greys is if the hospital setting is anything like it IRL? Like I would think hospitals are a lot more calm overall, and more laid back introverted personalities all around. And if it is upbeat, not necessarily in the way greys is upbeat. Greys makes the hospital look fun, despite the crazy things that obviously wouldn’t happen; Like when Izzy sends the interns to do games around the hospital to win a scrub in on a surgery. Clearly things like that wouldn’t go on, but it still makes the hospital itself and people seem fun. That’s what I wonder about being realistic
