Sun makes me drink more water, I love that. Balanced exposure to the Sun tightens my skin and tans me. A little ruddy hue is beautiful to me. Amish people have the best skin without makeup. Also helps with sweating and releasing toxins from your pores. I no longer look pale with sunken eyes, and goodbye depression! Excersizing in the sun is even better for you. The sun is a miraculous beauty product when you use it the right way. Praise Jah for the sun! Hallelujah!

You don’t remove toxins through your pores or sweating. That’s a misconception. Also, a tan is a negative response of your skin to the sun’s damage. The sun exposure is really good for your mind, health, body, mood. True, but till an extent

Praise God... I live in Seattle and today the sun is out not a cloud in the sky in March 16 2024 and I was out in it for an hour. Looks like I need to get back out there for another hour. Seattle is the suicide capital of the world because it rains everyday from fall to spring, I've gone six months without seeing the sun and when I was younger it really made me mad but now I love the rain it's so peaceful and like a protective blanket. I love the sun too.

The body can store vitamin D in the liver for example. Build up your supply safely during the summer months. Depletion occurs in winter with collapse of immune system which is why flu and cold attack with success in that time period. Low VD = impaired immune system!

@@emh8861 Yes but be aware that there are different forms of vitamin D and they have different potency and availability in body. Vit-D is more than a vitamin. It is a metabolic regulator and is involved in many different biochemical processes. Learn as much as you can about it. When we get sunshine we get the best kind. The energy from the sun triggers the production of numerous beneficial products like calcium transport proteins that carry calcium out of the blood into the bones. Cholesterol is taken out of the blood to manufacture Vit-D. This may be why Vit-D supplements by themselves do not seem to help people with osteoporosis. They may be lacking the transport protein for calcium. I could go on and on. Human beings were meant to be outside. Not fry themselves but get some sun.

Great information here, I think lack of sunlight, outdoor activity, adequate hydration, and lack of vitamins(b complex, zinc due to fast paced/stress lifestyles) are one of the largest causes of health problems in America mentally and physically. My biggest advice to anyone with low energy/anxiety. Drink a gallon of water a day, spend your weekends OUTSIDE in direct sun, and take a good multivitamin and b complex and see how you start feeling. The body isn’t meant to stay inside all day

I think you’re overthinking it. Just get a ballpark estimate based off what he presented in this video. Basically just go outside and get sun, but not enough to where you’ll start to get sunburnt. Imagine the benefits like a bell graph. They go up and up and up, but there comes a point where you peak and start to go down-that is the point where you are beginning to be burned by those UV rays

Joshua, you are sadly demonstrating our Pale-skin supremacy attitude, but it is the darkest-skinned that cannot easily & naturally get this critical hormone from our sun outside of the Tropics where we all evolved into humans. (Traditional Maasai in Kenya maintain a very healthy ~50ng/ml throughout life!) A young, healthy & fit heavily melanated person needs 2 full HOURS of High Summer☀️UVB! EVERY DAY!!! [Impossible in the US in Winter, or for anyone with skin tone, age or especially obesity/BMI impediments *with indoor commitments, even during Summer. So these are the largest groups of people at highest risk for all the multitudes of diseases & conditions that Hormone D protects us against. Berg, who does generally fantastic work, should definitely have made a visual that made this danger most obvious to those largest groups in highest need, VISUALLY including not just high age, but also fatmass & skin tone. People with specific meds ( like me) or other conditions should have been the obvious footnote. Perhaps a second chart could have been used to demonstrate how extremely different our needs may be?]

@@joshua.johnson Natural sunshine has a very broad spectrum that we also need. I mostly cured decades of extremely low D conditions with just supplementation, but still needed the full spectrum that I only returned to after severe depression faded. Humans evolved for millions of years under year-round African Tropics. We all depend on continued exposure for our optimal health. So in the TemperateArctic Zones, both D3 supplementation (in the No-UVB Winter for us all/year-round for most elderly, melanated, OBESE & sickly) but still year round exposure for the rest of the spectrum. Good health to you too!

A couple of years ago I had extremely low Vitamin D levels. I had super low testosterone. My free Testosterone was at 31. If it wasn’t for Naturism (being in the Sun full body) and getting full sun on my body I would have been more depressed. I fixed the Low T. But I still enjoy my full sun safely and legally. There is a body-high I get from being in the sun full body. Maybe medically there is a reason. It is addictive to me. The vitamin D high is like euphoria and it’s natural. No drugs or alcohol for me. A doctor I know here in Michigan told me that she has never had anyone in her practice be able to raise their level of vitamin D on a blood test to normal levels by sun exposure alone if it is low when she first checks it And now. she checks vitamin D levels on all her patients because of this and has them take vitamin D3 plus K2 if it is low. Those who have chronic low vitamin D even with sun exposure simply need that extra to reach and maintain a healthy level. Thanks so much for this video, Dr. Berg.

@John Smithy Yup. Plains Indians would kill the buffalo and immediately cut out its liver and eat it raw. But since they also went naked from the waist up in good weather, men and women both, perhaps they didn't have a vitamin D deficiency problem? It's pretty sunny on the plains, even in winter after a snowstorm it gets bright. I guess any who couldn't function on that much vitamin D died out, just leaving the rest! And as Dr. Berg said in another video, the need for more sun increases with age. Most Native Americans did not live to be very old. All speculation, but interesting none the less. All I know is I come from a family that seems to be genetically predisposed to low vitamin D levels. My older brother was diagnosed with SAD and uses a light and vitamin D. My two sisters both take vitamin D. I take 10,000 units a day to maintain optimum levels, a bit less in the summer when I'm outside a lot. It has helped me tremendously. An experiment of 1. But it has changed my life for the better. No dangerous arthritis drugs needed for me!

I have been doing full body D3 sun therapy for 5 years everyday there is sun. I live at an elevation 6500 ft at about 16 degrees latitude north. This has helped me solve a lot of issues however it is not enough and my blood serum levels are not where they should be according to Dr. Mercola's recommendations. As a result I am supplementing and started with cod liver oil. My serum levels are better but not yet good enough. I just started adding a D3 supplement at 2000 IU per day. I am looking for some good D3 and K2 products and plan on raising my D3 supplementation as recommended here and by Dr. Mercola. One additional factor I have added a few weeks ago is a gluten enzyme I take with gluten containing food and I am noticing a huge reduction in inflammation symptoms the biggest one being that I have gone from waking every morning with clogged nose to now waking with a dry nose. Also about 5 years ago when I started sun therapy I started adding magnesium sulfate to my coffee every morning and all of the muscle and joint pain I was experiencing went away 90%. To get rid of the remaining 10% I started using a magnesium chloride with water spray to spray and rub into my skin and wow no more joint or muscle pain and my skin is very nice. One more thing, I stopped using soap to shower and switched to sodium bicarbonate wash and vinegar rinse and my D3 levels became stabler and I have never had a cold after that again. Also my skin dryness stopped & I don't get any other seasonal sicknesses everyone seems to get like colds and flu any more.

From the videos, like your own, that I have watched, there appears to be some question marks about whether the Vit D produced at the skin stays at the skin, or gets absorbed into the blood stream. I'd like to see the results of studies that check this. Does serum Vit D go up after an hour or so in the sun. We know that people carrying subcutaneous fat hold more Vit D at the skin as it's a fat soluble vitamin. These are extra parameters to the equation. Not forgetting, of course, that cholesterol is needed to make Vit D at the skin, so what is the effect of lowering your cholesterol levels with a drug, for example.

What concentration of vitamin D are you considering when quoting these times? The optimal concentration seems to go up annually! Your table suggests that there is absolutely no way that an older individual living in Seattle (I am 68 and live in Cambridge, UK, which I think is comparable) can get enough vitamin D during the winter months.

Time of year of year/day is also gonna massively affect this, but it’d be way too much to cover every latitude. However, anyone could look up the local UV Index, so what would be really useful is how much time based on age, skin type, clothing and UV Index.

I have a question. If you were to stay outside for a long time, wouldn't it age your skin? If that's the case, wouldn't you need to expose a lot of skin to the sun to get enough before the sun breaks your skin? Or does the sun not being strong enough in certain areas not make it matter? What foods protect your skin from the sun? What sunscreen should be used? Natural like coconut oil or synthetic? I don't want to take Vitamin D3 pills.

I live in Australia and they are always telling us ten minutes of exposure on just your face and hands. The thing is we have lived mostly outdoors for most of the time we have existed as a species. Of course the original Indigenous Australian were very dark skinned. While most of those now living here are quite pale. The living our lives indoors thing might work somewhat for the fair skinned? Now I am fairly light skinned, though there is some colour in my background. I have two sisters. Of the three of us one spends all her time indoors and only gets out in the sun occasionally on holidays. Myself and my other sister spend a bit of time outdoors and get regular sun. Of the three of us who do you think got skin cancer? It isn't just about vitamin D though that is certainly an important consideration. Your body has to be exercised regularly to be healthy. That includes your skin. Like any form of exercise too much can be damaging, too much too soon can be damaging. And yeh complexion matters. In summer I do my best not too get caught out in the sun for too long. But I also make sure that I spend enough time in the sun regularly enough so that if I do get caught out in the sun for a while my skin does cope. I don't get sunburn. I haven't had sunburn since I started making sure I got regular sun. Not excessive, regular. On those occasions when I am forced to spend more time outside than I might like I can feel it wearing me down but I don't get sunburn. I spend time outside regularly all year round. In the cooler months I can spend as much as four hours or more outside on nice days and we get some glorious winter days here. In the hotter months that's more like half an hour to an hour in the morning or afternoon.
