It's scary how fast vram requirement increasing, the latest release Horizon Forbidden West for ex, even on high textures, a step below from very high textures, you got fps slowdown after some period of gaming on 8gb card that didn't happen on 12gb based from what i read, so if you can choose for more vram, pick those if you don't want to upgrade frequently.

@@Rullino32 1080p high textures, playing for around 45m, and you"ll get fps slowdown on the next cutscene, when you reach embassy for ex, or plainsong, restarting the game fixed this issue, from what i heard, 12gb doesn't suffer fps slowdown, or using medium textures at 1080p, problem though at medium textures you"ll starting to notice quality drop compared to very high down to high textures.

12 GB is now pretty much minimum for 1440p single player titles. For instance Resident Evil 4 Remake often pushes the VRAM to abot 11.5 GB on maxed out 1440p settings. Im glad I got RX 7800 XT that has 16 GB.

First off, no your not lol stop the bs. Secondly, yes. Medium and low are what these cards are meant for. U can't play high or ultra and get 60+ fps in nearly anything modern that isn't a high fps shooter like warzone or battlefield and if u try, you'll get a vram warning or failure. There's no thousands of ppl telling u 8gb isn't enough for no reason. Get off your high horse and stop sucking 8gb cards dick. It's not enough anymore.

It depends on the resolution, the higher the resolution, the more VRAM you need, but I think 8gb should be enough for 1080p at high settings in most cases, or at least for now.

8gb is easily enough for 1440p, I have 6gb and some latest games that i can't run on 1440p isn't because of vram it's because the card itself isn't powerful enough, i love how people whined about the x060 rtx cards had only 8gbs when in reality they can't even run the latest games properly with settings that would use more than 8gb. It also depends on games. Old 3A title can run fine on 4060 at 2k high. While the newest titles can goes above 10GB at 1080p highest texture without RT or DLSS

8GB: Future proofed 1080p gaming but 8 gb vram is only acceptable for laptops. 12GB: Good for 1440p now but will be INSANELY future proofed for 1080p. 16 GB: Fine for 4K now but 1440p fully future proofed. 20GB Is future proofed 4K and 24 GB is even more. RTX 5090 will have 32 GB VRAM which will be fully future proofed 8K gaming

I feel 1080p max settings (RT Off) with dlss and Fg you need only 6gb(smooth) and RT On you need 8 or more. 2k res- 8gb for max and for RT On preferred 12 but most games dont use 12gigs. While sm games reach 24gb usage on RT 4k others stay stable at 12-16gigs.

99% of titles use around 1-3gb~ for the main game, rest is entirely all textures, no not even resolution uses that much, its all textures, 12GB IS NOT ENOUGH, nvidia giving current flag ships 12gb when 12 was high end in 2016 is criminal, most games on max textures use well over 16GB

If u open task manager and gpu u see a dedikated ram which is like 12gb and u see a shared memory which is like 27gb. When u extend the 12gb ur gpu ll start to use the shared memory which in the system ram.
