I got an awesome half-gallon water bottle from Rtic during a sale. It's metal and vacuum-insulated, so it stays chilly for the whole session.

Pro bodybuilder Jay Cutler said he used to drink at least a gallon (128 ounces or 3.78 liters) of water during one of his workouts. That's probably a 90 minute or two hour workout. I try to drink at least a half gallon (64 ounces or ~2 liters) if I'm at the climbing gym for 90 minutes. An average person can process about 1L of water intake per hour without experiencing any symptoms of hyponatremia. Hyponatremia is serious but as long as a person pays attention to what's going on with their body, it's easy to avoid...the early signs include fatigue and dizziness, those are normally good signs to quit training regardless of how much water you've had to drink that day. It's really difficult to drink too much water...that coming from a person who's experienced hyponatremia severe enough that brain fluid was leaking out of my nose.

I do know I don't drink enough water; in daily life and during climbing. Maybe 24-32 oz. during the session. I think I could be better at pre-loading water before climbing.

I wonder the difference of water intake for the different branches of climbing? Like indoors v outdoor or bouldering vs trad. So much different for cardio.

Can't say I have ever remembered to take water climbing but I also prefer a more static sloth climb to minimise water loss😂😂 gonna take a bottle today and see if I can do a v3 in under 15 mins

Thats an insane amount of water if you’re at the gym longer than an hour. I feel like this would only be good to follow if youre outside in extreme heat.

Sarah you have done it again, another highly informative video . I do tend to drink a lot of water whilst climbing, and was wondering if it was necessary, clearly been doing something right. I like to add an electrolyte tablet to my water as a preventative! Sarah Thanks again

Well I have no idea, I bet water can't hurt no-one, I will try drinking more, but usually in my 5h+ Sessions sometimes I don't drink much other than maybe 2 Coffee and have no trouble keeping the energy up

Before and after a route, I take 1 mouthful of water. Anymore and I will get sick. Just enough to stop thirst is what I work best at

I try to drink a minimum of 3 litres (~96oz) a day and generally feel soooo much better, try to drink 1litreish an hour while climbing and Def less prone to injury but it is hard

Perfect timing. I try to increase my consume since 6 days, because for me its very challenging to drink 1/1,5 liter/ 34oz per day 🙈 And now you give me more reasons to work an this seriously. 👍
