$5000 for a family of 5 for a 1 week vacation is a really great price! The money you saved on flights allowed you to be able to do so much extra. I’m really happy that you had such a great and memorable vacation and that you got everything out of it that you wanted/needed!

Good for you Amy! I say the dollar amount doesn’t matter, as long as you & the family had a fantastic time, which I know you did! Thanks for sharing 💖.

We spent about $3300 for our spring break, family of 5 as well, but my dad also came along, so 6 total. We used hotel points for 3 nights, so that helped save us some money. Memories are worth it 😊

We're budgeting $4,500 for our family of three to do a week in Florida later this year(also with free Southwest flights thanks to our reward points). So $5,000 for a week for a family of five is good. I'm budgeting high for food (theme park prices) but planning on doing a grocery order too so we can eat some breakfasts/lunches in our room. Hopefully that will help us come under budget.

I live in Tampa and I think you did great with the budget. We usually spend more on a family of 4 but we do international trips.

Thank you!! An international trip sounds so fun. We’d love to do one someday, probably when our youngest is a little older ❤️

Great job! Cost of flights for 5 is our biggest deterrent. Haven’t had any credit cards in ages but now I’m researching to do what you did!

Yes definitely a huge cost! We save a lot by using points. It’s definitely made traveling more feasible for our family!

As a Florida native who lives just an hour from Clearwater, I can tell you that is what our budget is for each month of living down here with no fun extras, so I think you did super well!! Glad you guys enjoyed!

Thank you!! It’s such a beautiful area, we loved it. It was our first time in the Clearwater area and we will definitely be back

I haven’t been on a vacation in years either and have no idea when I’ll ever go on one. I was surprised at the 5K total but then again Florida is expensive and you are a family of 5 so they amount actually seems reasonable for a week.

Honestly that is the amount I would think Florida would cost for a family of 5. You did great! I talk about mine. I'm budgeting $2,400 for myself for the summer trip. I've been uploading my travel vacation budget updates, lately, since I'm trying to pay for most with my side hustle money.

To answer your question at the end of the video, that’s about what we spend for our family of 5. We usually try to spend a little less on housing, but we’ll spend more on eating out that you guys did!
@DearDebt Жыл бұрын
It was pricey for the house but we booked kind of last minute which didn’t help 😩

Vacation rentals are SO expensive. It scares me what prices will be in 3-5 years.
@BudgetingTheBacon Жыл бұрын
I bought my summer trip ticket, round-trip, using points too. I paid $39 oop total with insurance. That is going to be the best Delta flight ever!! Really good price for a week rental! I'm trying to pay as less as possible for a rental as I will probably rent for a week too.
@DearDebt Жыл бұрын
Woo! I bet you’ll have a fantastic time this summer 🥳❤️

The price sounds reasonable to me. My husband and I just spent three months in the FL Keys, it was beautiful and I didn't miss the winter at all, however, FL is expensive! 😮

I love that you did the baseball game since that’s something your family are interested in. Totally worth the money if you ask me 😉 I belive you did good with the budget for the trip, a huge part of vacation is actually taking a break from the normal routine. My kids are ”adults” if we were to travel with them now (15 and 17) and a trip for 4 adults is a lot… But I have promised them that we’ll go to London so maybe next spring. I need to start a sinking fund for that trip!

We are planning a spring break trip next year around that area! How was the weather? Did you have a pool at your house? Was the ocean water warm enough? I would love the name of the dolphin cruise!
@DearDebt Жыл бұрын
The weather was literally perfect. 75-85 every day. Ocean water was cold but swimable especially on the warmer days. We did have a pool but ended up only using it 1-2 times, it was small. The dolphin cruise was called little toot. It’s a tug boat which is apparently important for dolphins to be attracted to the wake. It was a great time!

We usually spend way more than that for a local trip for a family of 4 and I always wondered how much families usually spend. We'll be heading to FL next year and I was budgeting more like $12k for a week but that would be for Disney and Universal. So some may say that's not enough? I really wished I knew what to expect.
@DearDebt Жыл бұрын
If we had done disney we for sure would have spent a lot more. There’s a lot of Disney travel agents (a lot are free) that could help you plan out your trip and give you a better cost estimate!
