This is why our version of democracy is irresponsible. Voting is based on popularity when it has to be meritocratic. When running a campaign requires millions of pesos, it automatically creates exclusive privilege for the rich or to those who have connections to the rich to gain an unfair advantage of winning the elections. This means that the people who will lead our country are not the ones who are intelligent, patriotic, and talented enough to formulate sophisticated economic and political decisions. The ones at the top are usually the rich elites (or at least their proxies) who are motivated by self-interest and thus it creates a self-reinforcing pattern to keep them in a position that will further increase their wealth and power while keeping the rest of the population poorer. Many of which whose in position are obviously dumb if you indirectly assess their intellectual capacity through their speeches. "Araw-araw, pipiliin ka" "Sana ol may sariling tahanan" ... what the fuck. I know these speeches are curtailed to appeal to the general population's emotions, but this sums up the nature of our politics and our people. Most of Filipinos are incapable of conceptualizing abstract ideas since they are not integrated into our day-to-day social interactions. We're being fed with junk ideas. It's so good to know that there's still a channel like this that produces gold content.

For the TVC cost, it is probably higher now, since they have to pay for RT-PCR tests of the production team and talent. Shooting hours are also limited. If shooting will be 1-2 days, mas mahal pa ‘yan. For the tarps, aside from the production cost, there’s also placement cost. Iba iba pa ‘yan per location. It is also considered OOH (out-of-home) like billboards. Then let’s not mention bus ads. Mahal ding OOH placement ‘yan.

I wonder what the spread of the budget for advertising now especially at the time of quarantine (do people still quarantine?). Would the budget now move more towards social media, youtube, twitter, etc? Or would TV spots still take the cake. Whats the campaign trail protocol with physical distancing? Do they need more jets or cars to maintain one seat apart on their cadre of reporters as they move city to city? I appreciate the research that went on here and now i'm more curious as to who they get their budget from.

Just imagine if these billions of peso went to infrastructure, education, and medical how much better off the general population would be! For what they do, which takes forever, I am sure I could do a better job for free - just a car & driver to get me around Manila & supply staff to do the housework & official functions. I would pay for my own food as I eat simply, and it wouldn't be long before I stepped on wealthy toes & was "bumped off", but give me a few days to sign some executive orders to put into place social reforms (irrevocable) and I am sure life would be better for the majority of the population. Oh, I can't do that, I am not a Filipino, but having lived in other countries, I can see the faults clearer than many of the candidates & I am not related to the wealthy families or business people, so back to dream of what the country could be if someone with morals won the Presidency.
