Not really.. What I do know I'd for some universities, the academic trainees salary is paid by the firm they are signed with, and for some universities, the university pays their salary. Regardless of who pays, I think it's generally around the same amount as first year trainees.

Hey so im gonna do bcom accounting at ukzn next year.i am worried becoz someone said i must do a bcta (after undergrad) and then do my cta.which is an extra year.plz explain bcoz im quite worried.i thought bcom accounting and bachelor of accounting science was the same because its offered differently in other universities

You'll need to do your post grad in accounting(cta) and then serve your articles so 4 years studying and 3 year articles

Hi, BCom Acc & BAcc is not the same. It’s true, you’d have to do BCTA which is a bridging course, to be on the same level as students who did BAcc. After BCTA, you can do CTA, as a BCom Acc student, you can’t jump straight to CTA. Unless you do it at a private institute. I hope this helped ✨

The bcom Accounting degree at ukzn is saica accredited so no BCTA needed if you are with UKZN, the 3 year degree. If extended then 4 years undergrad then you can do CTA subject to meeting the entrance requirements.

I don't agree with you saying its an option to Choose a firm. Its about opportunity and not choice. In Africa or at least Uganda, Entry into the big 4s is so hard and competitive even for the wisest.

I think she was speaking in the South African context, especially for University students. You get signed as early as High school 11th or 12th grade. Depending on whether you need funding or not. But it's usually a choice to go with the firm offering you finding (that you applied to). If not, you have even more freedom of choice because firms are almost always looking for trainees (at this current time). I know firms that even offer money to take their training contract.

Considering how hard the degree is the salarys are extremely disappointing goodness teachers and marketing graduates earn far more with degrees that have far less stress. Ppl must study to be CA's for passion not for money coz honestly this thing has no money especially considering how hard it is. If you want money go into medicine or study marketing I earned way more as a beginner than these salarys.

Lol this is your 2nd comment on salaries, in every career the more years of experience you have the higher your salary. There is no earning R30k fresh from varsity without any experience. Education in general is a slow route its not a get rich quick thing. And CAs earn alot during their articles ,when they finish they have experience and start earning the big bucks quicker than many. And you can't compare teachers and CAs come on if you finished your studies in record time you become a Ca at 25 or 26 and by that time you're earning R45k+ whereas as a teacher you will have the same salary all your life lol I don't think you really know much about CAs and how their salaries work.a CA and a teacher in one sentence? Wow😂

@@vinoliaramovha2506 it takes very long to earn good money in the ca route and trainee pay is VERY VERY VERY poor especially considering you have a post graduate degree, AND the LONG hours you hv to work because there is no such thing as 8 to 5 while serving articles. Point is a lot of people are earning in the same price range as CA's or more or just slightly under but didn't study something as difficult. A lot of students are studying to be CA'S because their under the impression they will make Huge money and So my point was kids should only study it for Passion Not money because Hr, marketing communication specialists, supply chain etc study way easier things and make the money that Ca's make and more. That was my point kids must study it 4 passion because a lot of people in the working world earn what CA's earn. I earn more than a lot of CA's but I hv a 3 year degree no post grad and work 4 a big bank. And ppl who study degrees like CA get very upset when they get to the working world meet ppl like me who work there as well who can afford everything they can afford with a way simpler degree thats when they realise CA's are not top earners as they thought but no one tells them this reality in varsity, because university is a business that looks out 4 itself so they will never offer classes or have lectures share truths about these things to students. So I still maintain from a salary perspective its DEFINITELY OVERATED because I work and worse I worked in HR so I know exactly what's happening with salaries in private and public sector. Hence I said kids must study it 4 ♥️ coz failing that they will be miserable. It's long hours hard work and the pay cheque is what most ppl in may different sectors with 'easier qualifications' can make in a private well established corporate company.

Hey.. So overtime differs depending on whether it is during the week, or weekend/holiday. Normally during the week you get a normal hourly rate, but in weekends/holidays you get double the rate.

I've also noticed that even CA's are earning 500k qualified as beginner salary honestly this CA is difficult but financially it takes a lifetime before you start seeing a decent salary. Really ppl must study this for passion salary is bad here in CA land and ppl are studying for 12 hours a day. Your figures are sketchy though someone earning 300k is earning about 18k after tax and uif worse if you have medical aid. Acc science is hard but the pay is low shem yho 😪😪
