@@dimchefilipov9851 I meant that in Italy we pay for the national health care system with taxes, and for that reason we don't have to have health insurance like in the US and If a foreigner in Italy were to be hospitalized, even if he is not an Italian citizen, he would pay nothing. 40 euros for a removal of four wisdom teeth (including all the tests) is obviously not free, but it is very close. £70.70 on NHS. However here in UK they are not so keen for full sedition unless you are very anxious patient. Overall, removal of upper 8 is usually done in general dental surgery if is not complicated case, which I would say probably 90-98% . Lower 8 as a different topic, as sometimes roots are in very close approximately to the main dental nerve. In that situation, patients are referred to the dental hospitals, but again... under local anaesthetic. I have impression in USA they are doing general anaesthetic much easier and is more popular than in UK just to justify, why patient ending up with such a high bill. Luckily, we are blessed with NHS 😊😊😊

Let me tell you a bit more about dental insurance and how much it costs for dental work. In the US, dental is typically covered by insurance companies, which costs an average of $50 per month (varies by company and plan). However, insurance only covers part of the cost and the annual maximum they pay is around $1,000-$2,000. If I got dental insurance back in 2016, I would have spent much more overall than I did for this visit. That’s why I try to get my teeth fixed somewhere outside the US, where it’s much cheaper than what I pay here. But, I didn’t have a choice this time. Do you have dental insurance?

I think like 50€ for the first operation, the cost being for "twilight sleep dentistry" and 0€ for the second one. The necessary stuff is free, like local anaesthesia for numbing. So you can absolutely get your wisdom teeth removed and not have to pay anything. It basically costs extra if you don't want to be conscious. If there are special circumstances so that you absolutely have to have some form of general anaesthesia, you wouldn't even have to pay that. Germany btw. And My operation was about ten years ago but I don't think it changed much. I cannot fathom having to pay that much for necessary operations.

I understand to show full price but it’s not completely accurate. You also have to show your insurance premium you pay every month and then the copay or deductible you pay for the service. For example using Kaiser permanente HMO we paid $1200/month deducted from my husband’s pay check but never paid anything out of pocket. The only time I ever paid out of pocket was when I gave birth and it was $125 I believe a specialist or services such as physical therapy were $20-25 but we didn’t need these things. Our insurance mainly went to my pregnancies, deliveries, and all the well baby check ups. We tried Kaiser permanente PPO as well as Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO but I did not like PPO and wanted HMO back. The only benefit to PPO is that you don’t need a referral for a specialist. We no longer live in the US but if we were to go back I believe I would go with an HMO plan, personal preference. Also, I got all 4 wisdoms extracted at 16 years old (2014) and my parents said they didn’t pay anything, it was fully covered by insurance. My husband is an immigrant and got all 4 wisdoms extracted in 2018 and he paid $100 out of pocket.

I just had one impacted wisdom tooth removed. Insurance covered it, but irrc it was ~$600. Insurance wouldn't cover sedation, so I just went without it. The sedation cost there was more than the cost of the removal! From the moment I got in the chair to leaving was 10 minutes or less. I was given a few shots of local anesthetic, which took effect in under a minute. Dentist had the tooth out in ~2 minutes. ~10 years ago I had an impacted wisdom tooth and it's adjacent molar both removed without sedation, and iirc that was about $900 out of pocket, no insurance, and would have been ~2k with sedation. I was very nervous the first time, as I've had pain while having cavities filled, but they use a stronger anesthetic for pulling teeth that makes it COMPLETELY painless. As someone with a lot of anxiety, all the worrying I did was pointless because yeah, it doesn't hurt. I didn't even need the hydrocodone they gave me, but of course I took it anyway ;)

Free because I'm military. Always find it amusing how being military I have pretty much free Healthcare (in exchange for my soul) but my non military Americans have to pay an arm and a leg for the same thing. Got PRK eye surgery, wisdom teeth removed and a vasectomy all for free.

In Germany I didn’t have to pay for anything, but my sister had to pay 320€ for the anesthesia

For who never done that, It doesn't hurt If the doctor injects enough anesthetic for your teeth. I done that before and all I did just open my mouth and everything done in smoothly.

Sedation costs a lot of money, in Canada will cost the same if you do sedation. With local anesthesia it should be 200-500 $ range

I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed about 5 years ago when I lived in Nashville TN. I went under full anesthesia and everything and still only cost me 450 bucks. Try going to different dentists and see which ones allow the surgeon to come to their office to perform the task. My understanding is it will be much cheaper

For that amount I got Invisalign in France. Wisdom teeth cost removal maybe 50$ in France.

I have no idea how much it cost, since I had to get them all removed when I was only 15 years old back in 1990.
