This is how much KZbin paid me in 2019 for the ads on my videos. As I mentioned in the video, there are several ways KZbin earns money- one of the simplest ways to do is by enabling ads on your videos. yeah I don't get it.. chrome is going to start banning ads that do things people hate like interrupting the video to show an ad in the middle - but would they actually do that to youtube? They are the second most annoying ads after the nearly hour long skippable ads (I believe the longest I encountered was 48 minutes but then it started to play it constantly)

Honestly, this is the only video I watched about this topic that gave SO MUCH INFORMATION!!! Like most videos talking about how much they paid only stopped at how much they make per thousand views, leaving their viewers "calculate" or make a speculation. BUT this video, IS REALLY AWESOME! Awesome video, Shelby! I always enjoy learning how much other KZbinrs make. And then I cry, because my niche is historically a lower CPM niche, lol. Time of year is huge for ad revenue as well. Companies gearing up for the 4th quarter with Black Friday and Christmas have more in their advertising budget because they are looking to sell more products. I always love the 4th quarter! haha

@Tigron It varies for the time of year. Right now it is pretty decent around that much. But then at the beginning of the year it is like half of that much. My other channel, with far less subs, has about double the RPM so around $14 but again it depends on the time of year, right now is the highest time of year for RPMs

Hey Myles! I would suggest starting out by not worrying about making an income and doing something you are passionate about and enjoy. It will allow you to experiment to find out what works. Once you have a certain threshold of subscribers, then you can monetize your KZbin channel. Shelby mentioned certain types of content earn more ad revenue. May be worth doing some research. I hear Skillshare has classes to help with that. :D

KZbin wants to push longer videos to keep people on the platform longer to get more ads in front of them. Makes sense they would do that. They would rather push a video that has ads over one that doesn’t. So that’s why when you go over 10 minutes (now 8 minutes) and are monetized that those videos will get more exposure from YT. You know how hard you work and the risk you take. You know your tax burden! Often the government uses to much tax revenue to make life easy for people who may have made bad choices. We need to care for them, but government support shouldn’t be a lifetime annuity and a way out from working. You may be seeing the difference between Republicans and Democrats (liberals) and socialists.

Shelby congrats on growing your channel so much in the past year! If I had one piece of advice, I would HIGHLY encourage you to not be tempted to spend a lot more just because you make more. You are clearly intelligent and creative so although I am sure you will be successful in life, you never know how long success on KZbin itself will last. I'd recommend you save as much as you can now and invest in things like index funds, bonds, and real estate to ensure long term financial stability. I'm sure you know all this already but I've seen too many people go broke after short-term success and I want you to be as secure as you can be. Love your videos, keep going!!

Being in the 24% tax bracket (in Cali) you pay $14,382 in taxes from the first $84,200 of income and then pay 24% of the rest ($140,000-$84200). A-Frame-Wedge you’re right I only calculated the state tax liability. She would have more of a tax liability if you calculated city taxes as well but my point was to explain how the California bracket works since she was trying to explain only that! 😌

I don’t know if I’ve ever seen any of your videos, but for some reason this was in my recommendation. With that being said, I completely respect your honesty, and you explain this so well. I didn’t realize exactly how the ad process works, and that the content creator has as much control. Thanks for explaining this. New fan and loving your content! Just wondered if you've ever heard backlash from anyone about filming in front of your 'animal print' wallpaper? It doesn't bother me at all, but I have a friend who has a sort of unique form of synesthesia where clusters like the dots on your wallpaper make them itch, or feel ill...and they had to leave the room when I was trying to show them how cool and informative your videos were. As a business owner I really enjoyed (and also cringed) the part about taxes. I really wish people had a better understanding of the craziness of the US tax system. You have great production quality and I would love to see a more in depth video on taxes and self employment.
