Without a doubt the mainstream music we know today, should be avoided! This is absolute filth and draws us into the dunya. As for those who say instruments bring them closer to Allah and they use it as a means of worship… brother this is not necessary. We have the Quran this is how we remember Allah, we have Salah, we can do dhikr. There is no need to listen to music. Allah knows best. Let’s try our best to stay away from this fitnah and may Allah reward us for our efforts. Ameen.

If somebody is addicted to music just follow my advice, fall asleep listening to surah baqarah keep it on repeat throughout the night , you will find that you no longer like the music which you used to listen to before your soul will reject it you will feel uncomfortable listening to music which you used to like before.

Speaking about my experience, the moment I left listening music ofr 4months I got interest in Salah. I felt the connection, although I'd be struggling to get that music out of my head which plays while you are not listening to anything.

Music does not harm the 'soul'. The 'soul' is just a word created by religions to make you think that a part of you goes to an afterlife. Music makes you feel good in yourself. The people that are controlling you don't want you to be distracted from 'Allah'.

You stated it clearly at 4:40 - it's not that all consumption of music is generally permitted and it is also *not* that music is forbidden. Music has a powerful effect and discernment should be exercised when listening. It really doesn't need to be any more complicated than that. All this talk of 'all music' being haram as if all music (specifically instruments apparently) is centred around drugs/sex/illuminati is needless and dogmatic. Of course that's not all music. Used correctly music can elevate the spirit above worldly things, it's been used for centuries as a devotional tool and for good reason. Treating music as a blanket evil is religiosity gone too far.

Ok this is like the fourth time I've seen this happen There are several clips I've watched of this blessed teacher talking about music. Every single time he mentions that music is powerful, that it can be very bad, and that it can be very good. He will usually also say that we cannot call all music haram or all music halal. But each time one of these is uploaded, the title makes it look like he is going to explain why all music is haram/should be avoided (even though he gives both sides). Are these videos not twisting Yusuf's message?

The reasonYusuf Islam never changed his career as a musician even after embracing and practicing Islam because he could find nothing that made music forbidden. We Muslims love to make life burdensome and complicated when it irsn’t. Moderation and enlightenment is what Muslims need.

Basically Islam gives us path, in that path it keeps us away from every sort of vice. There was one thing which I read, which was that love of Quran can not coexist in a heart where there is music. So as a muslim if I come to know about something beneficial I have to convey that to my fellow muslims. If your aim is to have the love of Quran without caring for other people's judgement then abstain from music. but if you have a belief like Jews & christians that music does not harm in anyway then I can't force you.
