My mother, GM Pia Cramling, won a gold medal this year at the 2022 chess olympiad in Chennai (India). This was her third gold medal in her life, and her first one since the 80's. She won the medal whilst being 59 years old and proves that chess is a sport of all ages. Hope you enjoy the video!

Ms. Cramling is obviously a charming person, but people may not realize given her humble bearing what a strong player she is and what a successful career in chess she has had. Although she was never world champion, you can easily put her among the top 20 women *in the history of chess*.

She is definitely very humble, "yes you could do this" "that move is OK too" meanwhile she's a shark when she plays

I don't know why we should be humble if we are good at something. I think it is fine to trash talk and tease if you are good, get in their head, part of any game. It is the people who are not that good who should be humble. I say, if you are good, you earned it,---and it would spice this game up a bit with some characters. :)

I gave you a link to the engine I try to play with an offer to beat it a couple vids ago, (I did not check for a reply yet), "Gametop, Grand Master Chess 3", and I found something you will like about it. At the easy adult level, it has a nasty London and covers the squares well, and moves fast. But on the next 3 higher levels is takes some "thinking" time. I just got smoked by the Grand Master level, but it takes about 2 minutes to make each move at the top level, (including the first move for white. It is not broken.), which is nice for my study time too. Your Mother seems like a very nice lady. Doug in Michgian

The videos w/ your Mom are my favorite ones! She's so logical & I love her explanations. She really helps me understand this game better. It's not enough to be a great tactical chess player, it's imperative that you have a strong position. A solid position will help your game, a weak position will hurt it. In that way, you'll be fighting it as well as your opponent! All things being equal, the player w/ the better position wins!

Anna, this should've been your first video after the olympics. In these types of situations it is super imnportant to release the content asap when stuff has just happened and things are still active. Maybe not even analyzing every game, but just a hype video about the medal and maybe a game and I'm sure it would've gotten a huge amount of hits. Just a friendly suggestion for the future :)

The problem with most YT "how to play chess" videos is, My opponent never does what yours does. I know it is important to learn past plays of the game, (and anybody could do that given time needed), but I am trying to develop a way of thinking that is effective with past chess play, and develops new play. That is how Bobby Fischer beat all of copy cat communism, as the supreme thinking individual. :) If he tried those moves as a child under communism, they would have slapped his hands.
@EarthSurferUSA
@EarthSurferUSA Жыл бұрын
OK, Fischer was a nut case off the chess table as he got older. But what he did on the chess board as an individual, beating all of communism, is so noteworthy for our own freedoms, it is never mentioned.
