I understand the feeling of having a "druggy family". My mum was 17 when she had me, her mum died when she was 9 and she was bought up in Foster care. This affected her as she grew up. When i was born my mum wasn't with my dad she never really was. My mum got into drugs, she still does them 14 years later, she's come close to death multiple times. I'm 14 my brothers 12 and I had to bring him up. aswell as doing drugs my mum also suffers from severe alcohol abuse. She is an alcoholic. It's horrible seeing her in a state and knowing You cant do anything to change that. Going to school I was bullied and called a druggy just because of my mums reputation. Along with all of this she has mental health issues and explaining the state my mums in to my little brother is heartbreaking. I completely understand ❤️

I lost my dad 3 years ago to alcohol he became an alcoholic and died within a year, my mum died 2 weeks ago also from alcohol but she has been an alcoholic since before I was born I’m 28 (I was brought up by my dad). I understand it is an illness however I feel it is a choice in the first instance before it becomes and illness. I think there isn’t enough awareness about how it also effects the family’s. Your so brave for talking about this xx

I'm in year 13 atm and I can confidently say about 90% of my year have tried drugs and about 50% of them do drugs regularly it honestly breaks my heart, my year has almost 300 ppl in it...really hate being surrounded by it :/ I'm so glad you're using your story in the right way! xxxx

Relate so much - My mum born in the 70’s grew up in the era of drugs. Her boyfriend like your mums was doing hard drugs like heroin- she joint in and has been addicted since she was 17 years of age. She met my dad had a drug fuelled relationship, i came along in 1998 - My sister in 2001. Ive lived on and off with my nan(s) since i was 3 weeks old. Me and my sister have lived with our nan solidly spanning over 20 years now. Im 21 like yourselves and sadly we still grieve the loss of someone who is still alive. We plod on - But please remember YOU are not the reason for your parents addiction. Please to all your kids speak out - You are not responsible for your parents & their addiction. Their choices do NOT define you💙

I knew that drugs were bad for you but I didn’t even think about getting addicted to them. I’m only young so I wasn’t even planning on trying them and now I know more about them I’m DEFINITELY not even touching them.
