Making it in Holland

My perspective of living in the Netherlands as an international has changed seemingly overnight. In this video I'm explaining how. I was inspired to create this video after my "6 reasons why you should not move to the Netherlands" went semi-viral back in 2020.

Very happy for you that you seem to be happy now here in the Netherlands. Wish you all the luck and happiness you can get.

There's no voice more powerful than our personal critic. It has our best interest at heart, even though we sometimes misinterpret its meaning and place a far too big responsibility or burden on our shoulders. Acknowledging this and understanding there needn't be any self-imposed conditions for happiness is the true path to growth.

You graduated from TUE that is awesome, kinda jealous to be honest. Even if you didn't find the right path straightaway you *will* find it in the end. Whether it will be in the Netherlands or not that doesn't matter. Glad you spend some time with us and thankful for sharing your experience.

Have no job, and no income, my wife still has a job, but doesn't earn much.... living out of grace, count the blessings of every day :) And doing sidewalk astronomy, showing people the Moon and the sky....So I understand the worries of having no income :(

However, what you said in an earlier video still holds true: The taxes are very high. The weather is bad. You showed us your umbrella. And homes in the Netherlands can not compare at all to those in the USA, which are way more modern and superior build quality with garages, and private parking, central heating and air conditioning, humidifier, washer and drier, basement, workshop in basement, beautiful yard for cookouts, excellent plumbing and electrical, and on and on.

I would say I am still very much money minded but it’s being channeled in a different way. I was quite frankly worried a lot but after starting my own business I started to feel much more safe and in control. 😊 Thanks for watching!

Haven't seen your previous video you referred to. But is not needed. You found your happenis in yourself. Although the Netherlands is (imho) a lovely country to live, it is ofcourse also not paradise on earth. This country has also it's flaws. But having this said . When you are not happy with yourself neither country will . Keep up the good spirit.

2004. Till now means about 18 years. Education 10 years, research jobs/jobmarket 1 year and 3 years in various, eh, try outs. That leaves 4 years deciding what to do with your life. Not a stellar performance, hope you are healthy.
@MakingitinHolland

18 years to find balance in your life, is a pretty good result, imo. It took me longer. Money isn't of the highest priority for me. As I try to teach my son, money is a means, not a goal. Although a 6 figure income makes keeping balance more comfortable ;-)
@MakingitinHolland
@MakingitinHolland Жыл бұрын
@@vullings1968 exactly, it's definitely a means to an end, and not the end goal in itself. But it's also true that when you feel a bit more financially free, you start to enjoy life more as well. :)
