Good memories I was born here in 1944 son of a coffee farmer who landed in Kenya in 1919. I was married here and left in 1964. Happy memories. I was back home this year to climb Mt Kenya and see old and new friends. Love Kenya.

John Glassford hope you still call it home. Its a beautiful place aside from all the ignorance and politics that hinder progress. Just felt nostalgic and found this. Really wish I grew up there in that era. Kuwa na siku njema !

I went to Delamere High which became State House Rd. We lived at Kenyatta Compound/Kenyatta College. Holidays at Twiga Lodge near Mombasa. A great time at The Pop In and The Freeth played rock and blues .

What a Beautiful Country, Its a pitty the insecurity in Kenya has forced People to leave such a beautiful place. Ever Since I Left I have missed Kenya more than ever, But at the same time I turn around and see my family is safe, My son safe, we don't get harassed, the system works and is not biased! However we will always have a soft spot for Kenya, its where we (4th Generation) Grew up! Kenya will remain "Home"......

I was there in 1978 for a family vacation and it was an awesome city to see; Prosperous, clean, safe, and very friendly people everywhere. I was 15 then, and my parents actually found it reasonable to allow me to wander off and walk all over downtown alone any time I wanted, with not a concern. I am told by others who are from there that since recent times that the area where I stayed is not even safe to go to, even in the daytime nowadays.

Some landlords are greedy, they put up buildings that are below standards, and then there is the garbage and open sewers. There are good and organized places in Nairobi but then there is the other side.

I was born here, my grand parents and lineage are said to have ought came from Egypt through Sudan and Yes I still Live and Love Nairobi. It's a good place if you know how to survive then you can thrive easily in Nairobi but if you have scarcity mentality you'll end up in bad places. Kenya was good back then since there was land and resources in large quantities but right from independence it's when everything changed, most lands were left to people with lack of capacity to manage them, greed fled up and so many started moving to Nairobi to settle and with high hopes that they'll make ends meet since back then it was the only developed place. So what destroyed Nairobi is, while need for man power was needed to develop different parts of Nairobi, people who posed as builders (Masons, plumbers e.t.c) were payed really little and so because they couldn't manage to pay the rents and also support their families they had to get environs where they could build and support their growing families and that is what led to the growth of the ghetto among many other factors. But currently things are changing and hopefully Kenya will take a good drastic turn towards thriving since we're in a golden age where technological advancements have been made and there are really good mindsets arising since in Kenya, the no. 1 recommended thing is Education. Generally, it is a promising place to be with good people who co-exist well despite coming from different ethnically background. We also appreciate other cultures and races too. That's the Kenya I live in.
