That is my life. Thank you for acknowledging this as it seems no one does. There is a lot of advice out there about dealing with a narcissist that I can't do, simply because we share a child. I've grown strong enough to take the personal abuse, but trying to deal with his abuse to her is an ongoing battle. I feel I have to be the strongest person in the universe and it's so exhausting.

I've gotten to the point where I only allot a set amount of time compiling this police report against him so that I can take better care of myself, and then come back at it stronger. Not so easy to separate like that when there's a child involved, or you live under the same roof.

I had to start recording every interaction with my narc. He would say all the things he wanted to have happen and then ignore my disagreeing with it. He then would proceed as if I agreed, because I didn’t say what he wanted to hear. The recordings are saving my backside in court. I only regret not getting all of the arguments on video.

In some states, California included, you cannot record your conversations without first getting the assent of the person(s) you are going to record. Of course you want to be able to record without the knowledge of the narc, so that's out. But you can retain all written communication like SMS messages (texting), and emails.

Hey Ms. Zung, can you do a video about covert narcissists using other people to take you to court? I'm dealing with an ex with a covert narcissistic mother who is using him to take me to court to file for joint custody although he left me while pregnant and will not come see our child despite me trying to get him to do so. She has done this before by using another person she was controlling to take someone to court to get at them while she sat back with her hands clean. She doesn't like things like vaccinations and will try to use my ex (who could care less about our child) to fight and argue with me about things like that. He claims he can't stop our case when I know he's just afraid of her and she's paying for everything. I was only a few days out of the hospital after receiving a c-section when she tricked me into getting on the phone and started insulting me and pushing me for visitation. 1 month and a half post partum I was served papers and she had the lawyer come at me aggressively. She did this knowing I'm out of work and thought I wouldn't be at a disadvantage trying to defend myself but I found a way to get an attorney. Now I have to sit with my ex in mediation in a few days to discuss this when he could care less because he's just his mom's puppet into trying to control me. I've created a timeline, have some proof and I have people that know her willing to testify against her but it's HIS name as the plaintiff which makes this situation that more difficult.

One attack that I get in my situation is trying to make me appear to be the narcissist myself all the time and as though I am the toxic one, this is because I was married to a member of the military and a common tactic when defending someone who has been in the military at least in my experience is to accuse and set up the other as mentally ill, this is part of a very malicious gas lighting approach I have dealt with going through a military divorce, there was no representation offered to me where he decided to file this divorce. If the person is very good at destroying others as a narcissist, they are building this case against you even while you are married like a chess player and when there are kids involved they are being weaponized against you when you are not aware of it, and they know exactly how to turn your own children against you. I find that my ex was building this case even as I was not thinking we were going to be divorced, I only found this out as I am still being attacked by the "flying monkeys" that came out to attack covertly after a very long 17 year marriage. I am still suffering through the accusations and a very elaborate setup was taking place long before the divorce ever was filed by him. I had suspected things that occurred he was consulting with someone he worked with way before and it seems he used this to be able to take every thing that occurred while we were married and turn it back on me for these false accusations that I am suffering from still after more than five years after he got an uncontested divorce because I had no lawyer. He still retains a lawyer whereas I have no income and cannot afford one. I feel that he is able to launch these accusations in the shadows to keep me held under this false investigation all because he was divorcing me in secret and had a lawyer who was advising him giving him an unfair advantage in every situation. This can be a very bad situation for someone who has no legal representation when that person intends to destroy the other person. In my situation, my ex has used his own various military psych evals against me as well, so that if I were to ever attempt to suggest anything along those lines, he already has been evaluated and often says that he was told he is fine, and this was even used because the military can in fact label someone falsely as mentally ill, this is often done to military wives in these toxic situations, it was attempted to portray that I have a mental disorder at every turn. If I was reporting some suspect health symptoms they tried to put on my file that I have a somatic disorder. When I had issues dealing with a deployment, they tried to initially diagnose me with schizophrenia, ultimately they decided to put down that I had a temporary adjustment disorder. The problem is diagnosing someone in and of itself seems to be weaponized by military. A person can be struggling with something overwhelming and it should not be immediately slapped with a mental health label. This is being used as a weapon. When my daughter was struggling in school, we ended up in a bad situation where she ended up in counseling and that has been used against me as well to imply that this was my fault and that I am a narcissist and she inherited it from me. When we would see her counselor, I got this sense that in their private talks, her counselor had determined somehow that I am a narcissist because it could not possibly come from the military father kind of thing. It seemed that he had also manipulated the counselor and even their staff to be looking at me as the source of the problem. She would study my body language, look at me suspiciously all of it seemed staged to me. It is very bad to go through a divorce where someone is maybe a malignant narcissist and has everyone thinking they are the good guy and convincing everyone possible that the other person is the one who is the cause of all the problems. I cannot find my way out of this situation no matter what I do, it is weaponized against me. Even when I am just not doing anything I have a sense that I am under attack and a false accusation is being created. If I am happy, there is a setup to make it so that I am not in order to use that in the ongoing case against me.

Biggest takeaway is to start creating the summaries of evidence based lies. She says one thing to me, the opposite to someone in authority, and then when I take action in relation to her statement to me and tries to use that against me, I’ll have evidence that she lied to me or the other person to create the situation she can use to damage my case.

I'm dealing with issues about hidden assets. Can you give us a game plan on how to get that exposed without a civil lawsuit? I know the banks where Mom's assets were held and where her various retirement income came from, so the D.A. can subpoena those records, but it's hard to know what the narc has left out. I also know where the narc banks. Reverse lifestyle analysis? Mom had 2 retirement incomes, plus rental property income, but her investments also brought in income that the narc is hiding. I have no idea how to get at that.

Rebecca, even though you are only licensed in FL, there is a manner of practicing in another state via a pro hoc vici motion, in case something comes along outside FL where you feel compelled to get involved. I don't know all the details, but numerous times, I have seen lawyers have these motions granted fairly easily.

Also, contact your local news so they can start an investigation about your rights to protection if the system is not working. I escaped my abusive marriage without having to press charges, however I had a folder on file with the police just in case anything went wrong, or I got hurt. I wish you well.

couple of questions. as we know, narcissists will project and accuse you of things that they are doing or how they feel. I learned my mother was a narcissist because she kept calling me One so I went and took a diagnostic test. The test that the therapist gave me is similar to ones that every therapist uses, so why is it that we cannot diagnose narcissism if we have concrete examples and they fit the criteria? The other thing is as we know, narcissist full therapist all the time so unless the therapist is one that specializes in it, they are actually doing a disservice because we’re trusting somebody these word who may or may not know what’s going on the person experiencing the abuse knows better than anyone. and how is it at this day and age with 51% of marriages ending in divorce that the system is still antiquated why is it that the judicial system gets away with not being up-to-date on training and educating themselves on narcissism ?

One issue that absolutely daggered and skewed, my diabled daughter was given to the ex partner to be given over to facility care ( no offer of help to me to care for her), and 12 people were paid upwards of $ 60,000/year in that facility to keep her. After 23 years of not being allowed to know where she was, i was allowed to go see her. The person that let me in to see her ssid , oh look, there's a mom, a look of a imbasil on her face , i asked for some water to place drops on her lips ( they were dried to cracking and bleeding), the imbasil gave me mouthwash. I hope that $70,000.00 a year she made for a cushy life makes them baffled as to why the system out did their own jobs.

They put lots of lies in the court record. My ex did this non-stop to where he was quadrupling the amount of time I had to put in by proving the lies. It was insane all the crap he made up & put in the court record without a shred of evidence to prove what he would state. And don't think for a second that if you prove their lies that the court will sanction them, or prosecute them for perjury. It won't. You're supposed to just eat all that time & expense you put into proving their lies. If you can, skip court, and just get away from them, or else they will devastate your finances! And the judge doesn't give a damn.

How can I force the narc to pay the late fees that got assessed against my property because he paid the Decedent's 5/6 share of property taxes late? It was so ridiculous. He tried to con me into believing that I owed ALL the taxes when I only owed 1/6 of them. I DIDN'T TAKE THE BAIT! The told him he had to pay the Decedent's 5/6 share but his delay stunt caused the late fees, and now, he's refusing to pay the late fees he caused on my property.
