Back in the 80's Florsheim came out with a similar comfortable dress shoe that was pretty popular. I just checked and they still make them, it's the Comfortech line and the prices are pretty good although I haven't seen the modern ones. I remember John Madden did their commercials.

Being retired military, wish we had more high tech, like this NASA material, along with great construction in Combat Boots back when I was on duty. Trying out some 'combat boots' from Naglev now, an Italian shoe/boot company that has been around since the late 1800s. They are doing a full heavy Kevlar wrap upper. So far they seem fairly stiff new. Will see how they break in!

This is the most braindead use of the blockchain I have ever seen. The problems with this are: 1) You can copy a QR code from an authentic pair and put it on the fake pair 2) The company could just host a normal database and perform authentication themselves, there is no reason this needs to be on the blockchain

You do a great job pointing out how it's constructed and how durable and quality footwear is. I'd like to see a few other things, if you can swing it. Parts sourcing. Where are the materials coming from, and where is it being built? What is the carbon output in producing the shoe? I know that is hard to find, and sometimes a shoe maker may not know, but that would be awesome to know, especially if the shoe maker is donating shoes or sponsoring the video. Thanks for being such a great guide, Weston! Oh, can you also do women's shoes/boots?

You don't understand how the wax works. Usually, the temperature of a melting or freezing substance is constant. The solid and liquid phases are in equilibrium. Any heat added or lost from the substance will either melt or freeze some of the substance, while there is still an amount of each phase. If you have a wax that melts at about the temperature your foot is comfortable at, it will help keep your foot at that temperature. When you take a lighter to the fabric, the wax is probably all melted very quickly. You don't see liquid wax because it is encapsulated. However, any effect of this temperature regulating wax is only going to be useful if there is a big enough amount to absorb or release enough heat. The tiny amount of wax within the material dots would likely be nearly ineffectual, I would have thought. If those same dots were made of ice, your foot would very easily melt them in nearly every day-to-day circumstance. Given that water has a nearly superlative latent heat of fusion, I am highly doubtful that this material makes any noticeable difference. If anyone knows otherwise, I would be interested to hear from them.

I know some people don't love when the brand itself sponsors the video but I feel like it gives you a better chance to hear straight from the brand why they chose to use certain materials or techniques. Those were a good idea for a while, but the soles on mine did start getting a little bit of dry rot after cleaning with bleach and degreaser at work, then they got too slick to walk on. Not sure if normal or not because I wouldn't put my made in englands thru that kind of torture. I had canvas ones and greasy leather ones. My favorite docs are the really old ones without any toe reinforcement! Or the pointy toe. Witchy!! Ps. I've seen videos with products that water beads and rolls off suede. I'd like to maybe see something about that on your channel if you have any experience with products like that! I know one of the products I've seen is by chemical guys but it's a bit pricey! It's always a fear in the back of my mind with tan color suedes or nubuck, I always feel like some ketchup is about to land on my shoe or boots! Impending doom! Also I took my black doc marten boots that the front was a bit scuffed up to a shoe repair shop, and they used a type of airbrush to paint them and I was like meh.. and then the paint got ugly and cracky where it bends. how would you restore a pair of black boots with heavy scuffing on the tip?? Vidz about how to go about maintaining your boots would be great content imo.

These shoes remind me of tennis racquets quite a bit in that if you're buying one that's using some form of carbon or graphite, you're getting a decent material and construction, along with the benefits/drawback of said construction (balancing out power, feel and control in some measure depending on the thickness of various points of the racket as well as any additional material and how the carbon was layered up) while also finding the most gimmicky form of tech in order to market the racket and try to justify you buying the latest model and a questionable verdict on whether it works or not, it got so out of hand there where lawsuits lost when one manufacturer just plain didn't use tungsten in the racquets, while prominently branding said racquet as using the material, and all manufacturers have used "nano", "i" or "tech" at some point to say why their model is the best, only to unceremoniously dump the revolutionary tech on the next iteration for a new one. The leather and construction of this shoe/sneaker seems legit and using gel along with foam seems like a good idea but anytime "NASA tech" is touted, I'm skeptical sorry. And blockchain is a solution looking for a problem and I'll say no more, I'm not saying that those implementations of said tech here don't work, but as with tennis racquets I'd be doubtful of the value they are truly adding vs choosing another tried and true but less marketing friendly way.
