It is unfortunate that his father has failed to recognize that his son does not have "the gift." You can spot that in a young person by 16. To play pro anything, you CAN NOT learn it; you need the gift and then polish it. I was an Olympic cyclist in the 1970s. Of my 5 kids, none inherited the temperament or athleticism necessary to be a champion. I knew that by the time they were 12 years old. So I pushed their academics and did not give them false hope. Pro sports is not for everyone.

I don't hate the kid. He's sub par player who doesn't deserve to be anywhere near an NBA arena and he makes it so much worse by refusing to fly commercial. Dude is leaning into the nepo baby narrative instead of trying to disprove it. That pisses me off to no end.
