Just 25 days before congestion pricing was set to begin, the plan has been postponed indefinitely. CBS New York has team coverage with political reporter Marcia Kramer, Jenna DeAngelis and Mahsa Saeidi.

Maybe she cancelled the congestion pricing for now, so she can get re-elected again. What about trucks that bring in food supplies, merchandise and other products into and around the City of New York? The prices for transport will go up or the truckers can't afford it in the long run. What about seniors with mobility issues and disabled people who can only travel with a taxi if they don't have a car, etc.and can't afford the increase in the fares or even public transportation like buses.

For everybody that’s hating on congestion pricing, you an absolute NIMBY who doesn’t care about others and just care about your money. In nyc, majority of people take public transit and there is no reason that you should be trying to stop congestion pricing. Not just will congestion pricing help people who walk or take transit to Manhattan, but it will even help people who do drive to work since there will be less cars on the road since they don’t want to pay that 15 dollars. If you don’t want to pay that 15 dollars, just use the subway or commuter rail. Even if your not within walking distance of a commuter rail or subway station, just drive to a station and get on do that you don’t have to worry about that 15 dollars. Also the money will also go to the MTA to help make the subway even better so that you’ll be even more likely to use transit. Even with annual state funding for the MTA, that money isn’t always enough to keep the subway running as frequent as it is. So stop hating on congestion pricing, it’s going to help everyone. Stop being a NIMBY and stop complaining about congestion pricing

Let’s talk about the fact that the money from congestion pricing WILL NOT go to fixing the subways, signals, and/or buying new buses. The bus depots don’t even have the instrastructure to charge or maintain the new electric buses. The fare is a drop in the bucket in comparison to how much FEDERAL funding is given to the MTA annually. Most money doesn’t come from fare. Sorry to say. 20+ billion dollar annually unaccounted for by the MTA and an additional 1 billion will help???!! Ok yeah right. MTA controls and manages tolls on HCT, RFK, QMT, Verrazano bridge, Bronx Whitestone bridge, etc…. MTA WILL NOT add more service even if they implemented congestion pricing. It’s a complete money grab by the MTA who already mismanages billions of dollars. The MTA is crooked. And the people need to look more at the agency rather than arguing which group of citizens will dump money to an agency who can’t handle what they have.
@louisjohnson3755Күн бұрын
Actually the money will go to them improving buses and subways, even though the system is funded annually, that money it is given is not always enough to keep service running as frequent as it is. I am not surprised that the planning stage is a made up item for the State of New York. They have plenty of talented engineers who can manage this plan and execute a doable plan. They need to stop, regather, have several agencies review the entire process in order to work out this new idea. The cost will run some away from the city and that is the cost of doing business. The mass transit is still out dated and costly. The cost is just undoable. Throwing out money to a broken system needs to stop.

Cities like New York and Chicago have reliable transit systems so it makes total sense to implement congestion pricing, and if your trying to say “Oh but sometimes the train is late” but even if the train is late, it’s still way faster than a car since your getting stuck in traffic while train is going full speed and can get you places much faster

@@user-bf8um5oj9q lots of people taking the subway don’t have as much money as people who drive cars into Manhattan. So making them pay more is absurd since they are the ones who don’t have tons of money. People who have cars and drive intro Manhattan have the money to pay for the congestion pricing so they’re is no reason that you should be raising subway fares rather than taxing people driving who have the money to pay for congestion pricing

@@louisjohnson3755 making the pay for a service they use is dumb? and people with cars are rich? I don't drive to Manhattan. I live in Manhattan. I shouldn't pay when I don't drive to Manhattan congestion. The congestion toll is too wide. It affects areas below 60th street who don't have the same congestion. There are congestion in other places that are much worst. I should not be penalized paying $15 to go home on top of other cost of living that will go up associated with this tax on Manhattan residence. I don't life within the 70+ streets (not including ave and boulevards) this includes. If I have to go into Manhattan I take the train. And I will pay whatever raise to the train fare to use its service

@@user-bf8um5oj9q the reason they’re having congestion pricing is to get people out of their cars and taking transit. Also people who live in Manhattan should totally fair since you have viable options other than taking car. Also taking your car into or through Manhattan is slow so there is no reason you shouldn’t be taking the subway. Also the fare for the subway is already $2.90 for only one ride so there is no reason to raise it when it is already so expensive. Also 55% of people who drive into Manhattan are of high income and the income of people driving into Manhattan is 31 percent higher than the median Manhattan worker so it makes total sense to tax drivers rather than raising fare prices for low income individuals who take the subway

Its really time to put this issue to bed once & for all. NO CONGESTION PRICING, PERIOD!
