Great work ! This is the reality on ground. I grew up in Jos and these are the hustle we made to enable our education. From Tin to mining lead. The disappointing thing here is the fact that after all these toiling, someone's hard work is going to be exploited. In the end, the payoff is worth it.

It's a real pity that they have to mine manually. I remember the one former governor of Plateau (Joshua Dariye) was caught with a briefcase stuffed with pound stirling. I'm sure he wasn't the only one that did this. Just think how all those millions could be put to good use. I thought the tin deposits had been exhausted when the British left. I remember reading about it in school in the UK. They also mined "columbite" too. You already covered the gemstones in Taraba State.

It not yet tin but tin-ore probably cassiterite. U could find other useful metals together with the ore such as Cobalt etc. It is bad enough after this much struggle they still sell much cheaper than if they sold Tin I pray that God grants them safety in Thier work.

This is a well only they are not digging a well for water but to create a mine shaft. In that warm climate with not protection.

Thing is, they can demand 5x what they're getting paid. It's called hazard pay here in America. And demand a settlement payment if they are injured or killed doing the work so that their family will not suffer financially. All these things are negotiable. They're paying them pennies while they make thousands on those same pennies. They can demand safer working conditions for the mines. The mines should be supported so that they do not collapse. Gotta do what you gotta do to make a living but pay and safety are valid negotiable subjects. Shoot, let them form a union that can negotiate on their collective behalf.

I wish it were that simple, but life in north america is much different. We pay 100x the price for it here, and are so far removed from what happens where it's sourced. The profit along the way can be used to help things, if you get the corps to do it.. or they'll just increase the price here even more...

What they're selling is brute Mineral, what you're talking about is refined Mineral. Both are by far apart from Raw Ore to the Mineral. Those who do the transformations are another sector that have their own troubles. Minerals are not the theories on the pages of newspapers or sensations of social Media.
