I have been skating Harbor a lot. What is really cool about Harbor is that if you or someone else makes a mistake, there are many outs so you don't crash into each other. Normandale which is not far, is like like two alleys.

I never had anything against Nike. Or Cariuma or whatever brand gets the hate from time to time. Skateboarding is business much like anything else, we as skaters can choose to spend our money the way we want and support whatever brands we prefer, but it is undeniable that big companies with a lot of money (Vans comes to mind because especially where I live, Vans organizes a lot of events and support a lot of local skaters) help skateboarding progress and sustain a lot of skaters that would otherwise be penniless. I tried skating a lot of Nike shoes, besides the good old (very old now) Koston 1 and 2, nothing fits my feet. Recently the new Ishod 2 have been a terrible delusion for me, I liked the first model but unfortunately they are too tight for my feet.
@jacob_trowbridge
@jacob_trowbridge 5 ай бұрын
Nikes are skis, they arent made for wider based feet. Adidas and vans are also narrow but they have a wider toe box. Ive never skated nikes though ever. Never found a pair that fit.

@@jacob_trowbridge YEah. Can't wear Vans for the same reason as Nike but with Adidas I never had troubles (but I only ever skated Adidas Busenitz, have never tried another model of Adidas). Some brands that really did it for my wide feet are Lakai, Etnies, Es. I recently bought a pair of Nike Dunks and it's the only model that does well for my feet, unfortunately they are pretty overpriced so I might keep them just for the occasional night out with the family

@@ab-ue9yx id compare vans with busenitz, I have better luck stretching vans and they are cheaper and last longer imo. Busenitz my favorite shoe as an adult. To expensive though. Id rather spend 30, on vans from ross to tear up while skating. Ive never owned a single pair of jordans or nikes im 30. Lol been skating for 20 years loved adio growing up as well circa and fallen!
@ab-ue9yx
@ab-ue9yx 5 ай бұрын
@@jacob_trowbridge Fallen are still okay to this day! I gotta specify since 2-3 years I stopped skating vulcanized shoes now I go for cupsoles only so even Vans are as expensive as other brands. Usually I go on Zumiez or Skatewarehouse every few months and buy a few pairs of whatever is on discount, usually wouldn't spend more than 35-50 USD on a pair. I splurged on the SB Dunks but it was a one time only gift to myself XD. Man how I miss the old Circa and Adio was pretty good as well, but probably my favourite to skat back in the days were the OG Es Accel or some puffy Etnies

Nike spends money everywhere but in the town of their headquarters. They don’t do anything for Beaverton where I live. Actually they own a large portion of the city and kick skaters out even in empty unused spaces. Not a single Nike park in the city.

I'll go to the "secret one" if Harbor is really crowded. I like to get some runs in the big bowl because the big bowl is not as popular as the rest of the park. I was just at Harbor a few days ago when Normandale was getting too crowded.

It's just a matter of marketing. Nike is not into it, to help skaters. It's just business and there was a market. So they tried to expand, and worked fine from what i've seen and heard in the skateboarding scene. Reason being, they hired skateboarders which had no idea how much their contribution was worth. Probably "low pay". And then they invested here and there. Rich/famous people in the skateboarding community helped each other, with nike. And we "poor" people look up to them so we buy the product. It "took off". Now it's just profit. Sure they do nice things, but they also do bad things. The good part doesn't weigh up for the bad part if you ask me. But we don't live in bad countries so it's not our problem, or our cousins or kids that "work" for nike. For pennies. How much is a nike skate shoe? 90-120 us$? Probably cost 30 to make. And most of that 30 is probably electricity and machine maintenance and not paychecks. Just saying :) In the end, i can tell you that nike didn't change the skateparks where i've lived haha :P I am kind of mad at nike because they discontinued a shoe and i've tried to talk with them for years and it's just impossible to get through to them other than some automatic answer. I stopped skating. I probably wouldn't have if it weren't for that shoe being discontinued. I have "special" feet, and those worked perfect (for me), they didn't hurt my feet like others do, and i still can't find any shoes that felt like that. Can't buy them anymore. Ebay, used, bad condition. Or rarely new, in the wrong size of course. I'm at the point where i've been thinking about trying to find some contacts in Indonesia and ask if there is some black market with the original templates to get some made. I have tried to contact replica markets from china, but no one makes them. Not even nike. Because... Not enough sales and profit. I might be wrong with all the above :) Anyways, no hard feels towards nike, they've done a lot, and made it possible for "nobodies" to make a good life. Good vid, keep it up! I still remember the first vids 8 years ago, time flies. Late congrats on the 1 mil sub btw ;)
