The funniest thing on the internet is when Norm MacDonald had Gilbert Gottfried on as a guest on a 2 part episode of Norm MacDonald Live. It was so funny Norm couldn't cut anything out and is the only guest Norm made the episode a 2 parter instead of cutting out anything. Gilbert was so freaking underrated and Norm was funniest man alive the 2 of them together was magic! One topic that killed me was in the news at the time they said actor Michael Douglas got throat cancer from giving cunningus to a women. That was a real thing. @@gregamania1327 Its simply a fact Norm wanted to go out doing what he loved most, which was doing comedy as long as he possibly could... theres no reason to believe Norm wouldve ever hung up the microphone as long as he was still breathing... just like one of his comic idols Don Rickles, Norm was gonna be busting balls right up till the end. 2021 the year Norm had his draw with cancer, is the same year the 2nd Reno 911 movie came out... Swardson was likely on set or just finished filming the new movie around the time that Norm was telling him that they should retire and move to Reno together. Not to mention the glaring fact that 2020/21 was when a bunch of comedians en masse were leaving LA and NY for Texas, among other scenic places. With saint Roggie building a brand new Texan compound, Norms not gonna follow the infamous deathsquad en masse to the remote lands of Texas... since we all know, that would only remind him of that one tragedy! (Waco)... I mean, considering that all Canadian comedians end up moving to LA/NY to make it big, I think its obvious that Norm wouldve been discussing and joking with others, about seeing so many comedians now fleeing the comedy capitals of the world, just to go to an untapped comedy market in Texas!... all on the sage advice of that comedy savant Rogan! and who knows how early on Rogan was in talks with Adam Eget about having him come and manage the mothership when it opened. It makes sense Swardson would look back to the converstations he had with Norm about moving to Reno and think of them vary differently after Norms passing then the way he had precieved them at the time... which was that it was all just a running bit they had going on together at the time. All that said, with Norm he truly was a wild card so there couldve vary well been some sincerity to it all as well... or just the more that he joked about it with Swardson the more he kinda came to enjoy the idea of it all... just like having a smoke right after a long flight talking about quiting smoking.

"Joe Rogan is known to have trouble understanding jokes, it's been well-documented" Wow, I'm already on board. I didn't know people thought that, but I've always thought that about him. He's an awful stand-up comedian. I always just think of him as the bland Fear Factor guy, he always seemed kind of dry and dumb to me.

Norm was a thoughtful and introspective guy. It strikes me that he didn't really like or dislike Rogan at all, just liked poking fun at people to pass the time. Called it like he saw it.

Joe used to not be so oblivious to jokes, maybe it's because he's an old rich dad.

So glad you brought this up. Joe is talented. One can not be worth hundreds of millions and not be talented. He is a good comedian, but he isn’t great. Not a slight. Best pod caster possibly ever. Seems like a good guy. I could see Norm not wanting to go in and putting them on the same level. Norm was quietly a big Christian and incredibly smart. After seeing his friends like Farley and other people go down I imagine he wasn’t in love with drug glorification.

"All that talking about smoking makes me want to smoke." might be one of the funniest Norm lines ever. I just realized my friend and I did a Norm McDonald-esque thing in Las Vegas in 2011. I just realized now it was a Norm kind of thing to do. It was around 5 am and we were completely fucking tanked walking into the Venetian. There was this very sweet older woman working there as a security guard (or something like that). For 10 minutes, we are having her convinced that we are convinced that we're outside. She keeps trying to explain to us that we're not in fact outdoors, it's just a painted sky. We just kept it going for way too long haha. Poor lady. I still think about her sometimes.
