I thought despite his heavy throttle hand he was getting it done until I realizes he was just going down wind out of control until he hit the dock and ripped the fender off. Surprisingly it did not look like a rental with the emergency outboats on the back that somehow he did not crunch! This is a good case where a single throttle and gear shift is not a good idea. Had he just left it in idle and used the shift lever he would have had so much better and safer control. Oh well...... Thanks for posting.
@MrBoris9755 жыл бұрын
good remark, thank you
@craigerking97905 жыл бұрын
How could he steer a single engine boat with just using the shift lever lmao its legit impossible, you need twins
@CheersWarren5 жыл бұрын
Keys Customs,.... well actual it's not that hard and a lot of boats have only one engine. The trick as I said is not to be heavy handed with the throttle.( you wouldn't do that in a car why would you in a boat?). It's important assuming it has a rudder and not an outdrive that steers to keep steerage over the rudder buy keeping it in gear , idle is all you need . This will allow the boat to turn without moving forward much. But not many videos out there for single engine boat with rudders to show how it's done. Cheers Warren.

@jimquantic4 жыл бұрын
Part of it, is that (at least in my area) they do not have a "driver's license) for boats. You have the money to buy or rent, you can then drive, and that is wrong. If you really get down to it, it IS the problem. Putting that aside, us boaters need to practice, out in the open until we are really good, but we don't do that. Practice in all kinds of circumstances, wind of the port, off the starboard, off the stern, off the bow, currents from different directions. Go slow--but know when even THAT, is not the answer. And what happens when the engine stalls? Where do you place your crew on the boat when/if the engine stalls--or any other problem. WHAT should they have in their hands? The list goes on, it is as they say "pretty simple--when you know how". And if you don't how, NOW is not the time to start learning. My two cents.
