You have some cool glasses, and your hair looks amazing. I think some people do so many steps on wash day that it takes an entire day to wash their hair. I don’t believe we need so many steps in order to have healthy hair. Also, leaving the conditioner on for hours when that’s not necessary makes a long wash day. Shampoo, condition, and style should be enough. I also encourage anyone to get the Dyson tools. I have the blow dryer and the straightener. Those have done wonders for my hair. By the way, I charge my straightener after every use so it can be ready for next time.

I’m a natural. I love wash day. I have a simple routine with products my hair loves. I only detangle once (with deep conditioner in my hair in the shower). I also use wash day as a day I deep clean my house, do laundry etc. My hair loves Aussie products and they’re not expensive at all. I do notice the longer my hair gets the longer it takes. I also do my grooming routine -mani pedi and face mask. If your goal is clean healthy hair then wash day should be fun! Love your videos!

Hi Dominique, thank you for the great video. I recently relaxed my hair after 12 years of being natural and I’ve really been struggling with breakage. I dread my wash days because of all the hair that’s left on the comb and in the shower. Its actually really starting to depress me and I have considered just cutting it all off. In this video I learnt that I probably wasn’t giving enough attention to detangling my hair so I will make an effort to do that from now on. Please share some more tips on how to avoid breakage. Xx
@allisond49162 жыл бұрын
It's been a process for me. But this is what works: gently finger detangling 1st: extra wide tooth comb; go very, very slowly and gently (like a baby), use detangling shampoo and detangling conditioner. Leave in detanglers. The force with which we may apply our combs to natural hair does not work with relaxed hair. Easy, slowly, gently.
@jasminshade78832 жыл бұрын
Keep your hair moisturize , with leaving conditioner and natural oils. Limit manipulations, put hair in bun and moisturize it if you do take it down to moisturize it or to give it a little break for the day don't comb your hair one every day only two times a week with wide teeth comb . Be careful of too much proteins, buy Aussie conditioner and shampoos use that weekly or every other week. Buy strong protein conditioner and light one to use once a month limit it , use the the heavy protine one every one and half months would recommend after long protectivestyle , the light conditioner protein once a month. Give the hair a break by doing sewing or Knowles braids or a wig, try to keep them in for 2 months or 3 ( would do that with braids up to the 3 months) this will help . You will get breakage its normal just limit it to retain length. Give your hair a break every 2 months from being out by doing the protective styles. Remember less protein more moisturize and less combin of hair. Keep ends tuck in, if in pony tail most times . Use silk or satin to cover hair at night dont have to take down the pony tail just cover it before bed . No small hair ties to catch hair up ,use satin tie bans to catch hair up. Do make sure you protect your ends from gettings relaxers on the ends it will bresk hair too always use heavy oils to oil them before relaxer days. Hope these help also detangle hair with conditioner then put it in 4 twist or plots before you shampoo it and conditioner it. This helps the hair from tangling up when being rub in shower be gentle with hair, when washing or combing use leaving conditioner to moisturize hair too , read the lables becsuse even those have proteins in them be careful of those types . Good luck.

Whether if you’re relaxed (like I am) or natural My tip on NOT Dreading wash day is to NOT make it a “wash day.” It should only take a few minutes to no more than an hour and a half for most hair types). I get laundry day, leg workout day, etc…, but If my hair is dirtier than usual…sweated more from weather changing, used more hair products than usual from a certain style, etc…then I just wash my hair…I never wait for “Wash Day”, because it’s not a certain day for me. I think the term “Wash Day” makes it seem to serious…and can make some people stressed out. I ALWAYS say that if you DREAD ANYTHING in life then you shouldn’t do it. If you Dread washing your hair then maybe it’s time to shave it off and wear it very very short (No More Dread).

It may take you that amount of time to wash and style your hair; speaking for myself, it may take me that amount of time to finish the washing process. The styling process can take an additional 3 hours, sometimes more, depending on the style. You can also tack on drying time to that total. The term “wash day”, in my opinion, can be whatever day you choose to wash your hair - not specifically the same day every week (or frequency with which it gets washed). The fact that it can literally take half the day, it’s tiring using your arms for so long, etc is why people may come to “dread” the process. Let’s not trivialize what some people may go through.

Any advice for when a stylist refuses to relax your hair? I'm natural and have been wanting to go back to relaxed for a while now, but have gone to 3 different stylist and they all said I "don't need one." I feel that a relaxer fits into my time/lifestyle better as I prefer to wear my hair straight and I am able to take care of it better at home. Even after explaining this, they say no. I'm at a loss!
@denyshadials57022 жыл бұрын
No one “needs” a relaxer. It’s either a service the stylist offers or it’s not. Are you going to natural hair stylists or something? Because they don’t always offer relaxer services. I would go to Style Seat and find exactly what you want.
@NS-gg8om2 жыл бұрын
@@denyshadials5702 they do offer the service. I even had emails going with one about my preferred type to use and they said they were okay with using that brand. @@NS-gg8om Interesting. The only time I’ve heard of stylist refusing to offer their services is for health and safety reasons. Do you mind my asking what’s the reason they refuse to give you a relaxer? Especially if they’re willing to give it to someone else?..
@NS-gg8om2 жыл бұрын
@@denyshadials5702 the reply that I've been getting is that my hair straightens easily without one, and natural hair is healthier so I "shouldn't give up on it." For me it's not a matter of giving up, but rather that I know my schedule and lifestyle, and after years of being natural I know I don't have the time for it or even get to enjoy it. This seems to fall on deaf ears and then they try to talk my into protective styles and waiting to see if I feel the same.
@denyshadials57022 жыл бұрын
@@NS-gg8om Ohh..when you put it that way, it almost sounds like relaxing plus using heat would be too much for your hair to handle. If you do find someone willing to give you one, then I suggest rollersets and no blow drying/flat ironing.
