You helped your team capping a base, spotting an enemy (although that won't work if your team can't speak english - wink wink), and running around trying to attack with the artillery and being a typewriter. For your heroic deeds you get... let's say 500 RP. GG (Have fun grinding for your next tank which can be a few ten thousand, later on even hundred thousand RP) This isn't WoT, you get nothing for spotting and typing in chat... (maybe with a spotting system like in Battlefield? Pressing Q and stuff? Idk) Right now the only use for light tanks is that it can flank quite well, and pop some shots into a tank's back. But for that purpose I would recommend something like a Hellcat.

+TredBobek You are well spoken, but even then, you can still use your other tanks in your line to research, say you use your light tank for the beginning of the battle to cap and alert, you could J out or get killed, and have enough points for another tank down the line, you got the points from capping as well as any other points you get from killing. It's why we have multiple crew slots, to use whatever tank is necessary for the situation at hand. (RB, Arcade can go die in a ditch. and there's no point in sim'ing in a Light)

Jet_725 To be honest I use that tactic (go in with a weak vehicle for fast points). But for that purpose I use my AA vehicles (the american half tracks are quite fast enough, and I usually don't encounter enemies when I reach the cap points. And it can use artillery as a smoke screen/attack move). AA is cheaper (for the record, I only play RB)

One way to remedy this problem would be giving light tanks the ability to get an accurate marker on whatever you aim at, like how shooting an enemy pings the position. This ability has to work on the ground as well, or else it would work like a scanner.

This might actually work if you allowed the binoculars to place markers on the map for friendlies by clicking. Sitting their typing out bullshit is how you die. If there is say more than3 people at your base you probably only got a 3rd or less of your team alive and the enemy team heavily overwelmed you. what's the difference of immediately being blown up at the gate out of the spawn or at the spawn and than dying 5 seconds later? The only difference I can see is some maps will allow you to take your newly spawned locust and run the other way hidding.... which isn't worth all the effort to fix... However in the newer maps... well 1 of the desert maps they gave the options to spawn further back. This basically makes spawn camping nearly impossible unless you are stupid enough to spawn in an area heavily contested with enemies. (not sure about you but I often ask for team mates if they know if enemies are close by/ near a spawn point before spawning)

Cowboycomando54 You could just shoot them before they reach spawn in the first place. If they are getting on your nerves by knocking out the enemy team at their base, obviously something is working. Spawncamp is a double-edged sword that is sometimes viable. It keeps the momentum going the way things have already been going. If your team isn't killing anyone in the first place, there is no one respawning for the camper to kill. If a team is winning, however, they can make it incredibly challenging to advance. If spawn was protected, how many AA guns would bother to leave it? You have pretty much made AA players invincible. However, personally I would sooner have a game where people are complain about spawncamp by enemies than a game where spawn is so safe that players don't bother to leave, which is the case in Air RB.

The problem with light tanks is the teamwork they require! A light tank "spotting" the enemy is of no use if your allies are ignoring your messages. Also you dont get any RP or Credits for "spotting"... A solution to this would be to give light tanks the abilty to mark enemys wiht the Binoculars.( The enemy tank would apear on the map and get the little red indicator near its position, like if he got shot at) and give RP and Credits for a Spott and the assist for the kill. Just an Idea... what do you others think?? Pls let me know your thoughts about light tanks.

It should also be noted that a lot of the tactics in this video work well for the M18 Hellcat, since it has a lot of the characteristics of a light tank such as high speed and mobility at the cost of poor armor protection, though unlike most light tanks it also has a decent gun for its tier so when it does engage, it stands a better chance of doing significant damage and therefore can be more useful at taking out high-value targets such as someone trying to cap a friendly control point.

Regarding the cap, I absolutely agree, works every time! When we have Ash River domination, just go straight to the cap with a Crusader, then drive straight (but carefully) down the cliff. Anyone who had a shot at you no longer does, and you are in an area with few tanks and a good flanking position. Make your way to spawn and profit =). Also, people here are so obsessed with the grind. Can't you just care about whether your team wins that specific game or not? It is nice if you play SB so that you have access to whatever vehicles are in each rotation, or RB events. Other than that, it isn't like higher tier aircraft get more of an advantage in their matches. For a long time the Shinden was incredibly hard to maneuver. There are still vehicles that are hard to play stock. T3 and T4 is really where the heart of WWII vehicles are anyway.

this tutorial was rather useful for the more experienced players who can afford to not be grinding as fast as possible, however, for newer players only getting 500 RP ( as stated by TredBobek) the risk is not worth the reward. The easy way to fix the RP problem is give light tanks the ability to gain RP by "T-1-7" (aka spotting the enemy on the map for your team). If light tanks gain RP for spotting, as they are intended to do anyway, the class will see more play due to more than just 500 RP a match.

to play strategic is not that difficult, but for strategical gameplay you do not gain any rewards.... why shall i protect our team from become flanked in the outer map while main battle and RP are in the center.... why shall i not attack an enemy but hit an artillery strike on him so my teammates get all the points, why shall i help a teammate who is 3km away instead of killing the bomber in front of me? Why loading a smoke grenade to cover someone instead of let him die and make a kill? I would recomend to Gaijin to invent rewards for mind open gameplay and not onnly for cap and kill.

Apparently Gaijin thinks every tank battle is always filled with teamwork and happiness. I've seen good teamwork fairly often on Realistic Aviation, but in tank battles? Pshh, when you say "enemies spotted up the hill" either nobody will care or a toxic player will say "omfg noob come capture point nobody cares about the fucking hill" and then teamkills you. Then we lose the match because the enemy managed to flank us, and the toxic guy will say "omfg noob team can't even kill tanks u all suck"

Late War Shermans are still underpowered. Because there is no balanced Medium Tank/Heavy tank ratio that the matchmaker tries to meet, American and British teams with mostly Medium tanks go up against Heavy Tank saturated German and Soviet teams, specifically the Tiger 1 and IS-1 and 2.

If you spot an enemy you gain points? This is critical in other tank games. Think about this. Also in RB spotting an anemy (center him on your binoculars) must be visible (red dot on map) to your teamates. Think about this also, this make sense. Speaking about spoting guys, notice that there must be a white smoke clound from the engine around every mooving tank. In WT this is happen only to AI tanks, why? Spoting a tank from its smoke is the most natural think as in reality.

It'd be nice if there was more incentive to play as a light tank other than being target practice for enemy tanks. Say for instance giving them an actual spotting mechanic that's somewhat already built into the game? I don't normally play arcade tanks but perhaps players in light tanks should get a spotting bonus if they "designate" an enemy tank and in realistic it would just cause the red spotting arrow to appear over them without actually having to engage with your cannon since in most cases that's suicide in a light tank, at least according to this strategy guide right? Typing at your team isn't always an option since things can go sideways really fast and clicking on the map doesn't always get everyone's attention, but putting a giant red arrow over them like when you're shooting at someone usually does the trick. Also if you're likely only going to be getting spotting bonuses it'd be nice if you get a small rp multiplier on modules for that specific light tank but it shouldn't be too great otherwise you'll speed through them too quickly. I know that later light tanks are easier to get kills with so the multiplier should get smaller the better the cannon/ammo types you get available to you. That's just my suggestion on how light tanks should work though, but honestly I'd rather be in a normal tank than a light tank since there's no real advantage aside from how fast you can race across the map and die with little to no reward.

I want a video with Leopard I (practicly ununesable tank for 99% of all maps of warthunder. In 99,999% of all battles (as matching up to enemy. they only need to aim at you. You need to aim at spots without the HEATFS. And the mobility you get for the sacrificed armor is doubtedly thick enough to even stand up to its much older brother Panther II (Who is better manueverable, has better acceleration, holds speed better, has much better cannon if hitting enemy from side = instakill .. with leopard.. seeing enemy from back means you are dead because before he will spot you you won't be able to kill him. or you just show him where you are hopefully at least taking out some important module.. or any module at all.)

"Tell your allies through chat" or, you know, you could implement an spotting system like WOT did instead of relying on your teammates who aren't paying attention to read extremely specific chat commands that are in all likelihood, not useful. This is not a substitute for an actual game mechanic, despite this being able to potentially work. Nobody on your average team is reading chat, and likely never will, because it's much more rewarding to use these spotting methods in a tank that can actually kill something.

Could you please make a tutorial on how to play with the IS-2-1944 with post-war ammo and how to play the T-10 in a 6,7 battlerating game? Because that seems to be really difficult... You can only pen your enemies such as King-tigers or Leopards 99% of the time instead of 100% and sometimes it's not even a one-shot kill. And they sometimes can penetrate my tanks, even though that should be impossible because they are russian tanks after all... Thank you gaijin for your useful tutorials.

I have never used light tanks in this way and have done perfectly fine with them in aggressive usage against heavy tanks specifically to help take its attention for allies. Alot of the advice here is okay till you know your tank, but "stay on the skirt of the town without cover in the middle of a field" sounds like a bad bit of advice to me.

Typing in chat and watching the match from the sidelines will gain me battle activity of 10% and 100rp. Great advice, lol. The system is broken, the combat settings/modes are trash which promote gameness instead simulating actual combat mechanics. That's obviously the reason why light tanks serve no purpose here and should be avoided by any player.

Except there is a difference, what makes me angry is when I get shafted by the game. I.e. the Russian bias, a tank shell sailing clean through the ground or a building, some dodgy physics ect ect.

Well, mabye we would actually use this advice IF WE EARNT ENOUGH RP DOING IT. the T3+ tanks get expensive, you know. It take AGES to reaserch them. Heck. I've given up on reaserching my tiger 1 and began reaserching OTHER tanks (Pz IV G, Marder III H, StuG III G etc.) i only reaserch the tiger if I get RP multipliers. EDIT: I am reaserching the first tiger in the tech tree.

really though, it's a Video about "How to NOT LOSE the match" it's not related to your personal results after the match, if you wan't to grind for your next research, battle with a Med tank, Heavy or TD. and no, you thought it's going to be easy like in the video? this video shows that your teammates are reliable and you can rest easy spotting and calling arty, but how about let's say that your teammate now lose every duel that they encounter, what are you, the "Light Tank" going to do? i recommend Squadding with your reliable friend if you want a tactical battle like this.
