final level was cool as hell, looked like you needed to figure out the shortcuts to beat the level which is a really novel concept
@mrchof48753 жыл бұрын
That last level, as bad as it could be, was so inspiring though. One could do a whole new series of levels that put cheese as the required route to beat the level, with an alternative route like a really hard kaizo course or whatever challenge you want to bring as a creator that is optional but rewards you with a subtle hint to find the cheese. So you reward those with game knowledge, game mechanics, or simply game awareness. It could be called the Rat Maze series and all! I don't know if putting cheese as an intended mechanic would take away the satisfaction of finding it or just be a puzzle with extra steps, but I still think that the concept could hold up if the creator knows what he/she is doing and disguises the level well enough nonetheless. How I wish I could play the game... damn.

26:54 oh thank god, it was driving me insane that you weren't already doing this! edit: now you're back to NOT blowing up the block!? Well I hope for your sake that the on/off state ends up needing to be changed as you thought, or I'm UNSUBBING edit2: that upwards spring where there "should" be a sideways spring is cleeearly a dev exit right, with the invisible block softlock pits and star lined up like that... I'm still salty that you bother changing the on/off block because I'm lazy so you should be too... but I will see where this cheese leads... (edit2.1: oh yeah I thought WTF at that sawblade death too, apparently there just isn't a block there so it's visual bullshit on the creator's behalf rather than actual Mario Maker jank) edit3: Oh shit the nut cheese! (phrasing...) I did see the semisolid earlier but I thought it would like, be somehow worse going that way? I see now that it is the already established nut from later in the level, soooo good spot! edit4: oh my god the spike helmet WTF!? I bet that is even intended regarding the dev path holy shit this level is a wild-ass rollercoaster! final edit: sooo yeah, I don't know that it is "required" dev path, it very well could be, but still, what a fuckin level, G fuckin G 😂

At 29:00. You can see the acorn suit. You could have grabbed the propeller, then came back and twirled up to it. That level had so much cheese in it. Edit: Nvm you noticed

Note to any aspiring speedrun level devs in the future: If there are multiple intended paths through your level, make a description that says so. That way when an apparently hidden path is discovered by your players, they won't think it's a dev path, and will instead think it's a proper player shortcut. Unless if it's obviously a dev path not meant to be found. Also, maybe don't make it unintuitive. Multiple paths without shenanigans like hiding them are always going to be better in levels wherein you HAVE to go fast, since players won't always be as observant as Simple was here.

I was like the 4th person to play the "bars in the desert level" from the uncleared queue when it was still "normal" difficulty. Noped right out of there.
