You have to use conjuration for an easy start on the hardest difficulty, the skeleton dies easy, but it is scaled like an enemy not like you, so they have 6x more damage. You can always run away while regenerating magicka to spawn a distraction skeleton

Last time I played Oblivion I had a Khajiit character I based on my cat, who later passed away. Sadly I can't get those saves to work anymore, not sure why. Might be that the game or one of the mods I used got updated since.

I keep wanting to do a thing like this. Like forcing myself to do every quest line. Every time I cross paths with a daedra, at the end of the quest I have to start over with a character themed to match the daedra. But also throw mods into the mix and add and remove mods each cycle to match the daedra in question. Make it truly interesting.

Yeah, which is quite surprsing. People complain about Morrowind, but Oblivion with difficulty setting anywhere between 50% and 100% is shockingly merciless

Knights of the nine gives you equipment you can relevel as you go and SI is the absolute pinnacle, but I’ve not seen much I care for in the base game. The payouts are pitiful, the enchanted items weaken to match your level which they shouldn’t, and you can’t even buy the highest end equipment or decent training with all the money you get. Shopping is basically useless in Oblivion.

Actually it does get easier once you reach certain levels, some quest items and rare drops like the mundane ring make the game trivial once you start stacking reflect damage and resist magic. Plus most of your damage starts to show when you actually reach level 100 in certain skills

Yo, love the Dragon Age reference. They're not as "open" as The Elder Scrolls (except with dialogue and characters) but Dragon Age: Origins is still by far one of the best games ever. If you haven't, and I'll check after writing this, please play it on the channel. Add whatever mods you want. I'd just love to see some DA:O shenanigans.

Little trick: I noticed you weren't blocking when using your healing spells in the poison room. Blocking while casting spells cancels the spell animation allowing you to cast spells much faster.

The only viable method of combat in 100% difficulty Oblivion is Conjuration bc your summons are not affected by the difficulty.

The hard part is that enemies get exponentially stronger, whilst almost nothing you do does anything. When combined with weapons stats being static making questing useless. I'm pretty sure you can do literally 0 damage to enemies. I think one of the DLC might tier up some of the weapons? Wasn't on PS3 though

Conjuration could be a good skill to invest in if you ever subject yourself to this pain again, since your summons don't deal pitiful baby damage like you. Also side note; It is so odd playing with a more compact, modded ui, then watching a video of the vanilla menus, the text looks so much bigger!

I'm doing an unarmed challenge run on this game on the hardest difficulty and it's ridiculously hard, I'm at the point in the main story where you steal the book and have to escape the cave of the red robed mages, and they kill me in one hit with lightning and whatever else, so I think it's challenge failed, lol!

Thankfully hand to hand can actually make very hard manageable once you have it maxed. From decade old memories maxed out hand to hand can stun and cripple enemies with heavy attacks. But obviously you still need to level that shit up which is fucking brutal so good luck 😅
