But mate, you stopped just before the water. You needed to be moving. Yea, watch out for the ramp up on the far side, balance out on it and lean forward just after the front wheel goes over. Don't stop!
@markisee3 жыл бұрын
yes should have gone for it - the bank was pretty vertical though and probably would have ended up head down in the mud... a better video though hahaha ;-)

You gotta get the “Sintered Brake Pads” if you’re interested in proper off-roading. Those make a big difference to front brakes
@GorillaFighter73 жыл бұрын
Great video! You needed more momentum to get over that hole, you went in way too slow. Stand up and when in doubt throttle out!

Funny video, the Himalayan can do these trails no problem, but need to read the terrain. About that puddle where your bike got stuck, it got stuck because you walked into the puddle rather than glide through the puddle and you should never slowdown or stop near to the water parts just ride at low gear. Keep riding👍
@Nadheem7213 жыл бұрын
Just stand up and ride through those patchs with momentum and you will get more control over your bike

You need to head down to the SI and ride the Rainbow and the Molesworth, thats where this bike really shines, i'm going to do them again next summer
@ItsJustMorris3 жыл бұрын
Mark, if you do come South and someone suggests the Lees Valley Rd - Okuku Pass Rd for a ride , might be best to think twice. The Taranaki paper road goat tracks are tame compared to those two corrugated bedrock paths . Good film mate, cheers
@mattyb77363 жыл бұрын
@@ItsJustMorris its not that bad, I got a Suzuki Grand Vitara thru there a couple of weeks ago. Its a great ride on a bike as long as the river is low, that ford is the worst part. Even if you have to turn round and head back out of the valley at the Oxford end, its a nice scenic ride. Just don't stop at the picnic area in the middle of the valley as the sandflies will eat you, the bike and anything else they can find.
@ItsJustMorris3 жыл бұрын
@@mattyb7736 You drove through in a four wheeled, four wheel drive vehicle. Get get back to us when you've ridden through on a two wheeled, one wheel drive vehicle. You will fined that there is no comparison at all.
@mattyb77363 жыл бұрын
@@ItsJustMorris I will be doing it next weekend on my old XL 600 if I get it together in time, I only took the car thru because I had a friend down from Auckland. I ride that valley a lot, the worst bit of it is actually at the Okuku end where the roads been carved out with the logging and theres some very deep puddles in there back by the farm sheds.
@ItsJustMorris3 жыл бұрын
@@mattyb7736 You are telling me nothing, I rode through there three weeks ago on an Enfield 500. My point to Mark Bellringer is that it is more of a challenge than Taranaki mud riding, something that he has yet to get the hang of. And that is why I addressed my post to him , and not you .

Hi there, great vid! I've got a Himy and live in Levin. I'd be real keen to come for a ride with you blokes. Pretty much a noob but done about 10,000k's on mine, mostly on road but a bit of gravel. Cheers for the entertainment.

sure let me know when you are up this way - if I'm free I'd be glad to go for a ride - are you going to the Carterton RE meet in March?

@@markisee Hello Mark, thanks for the reply. I don't really know when I'd be up your way, I've got lots of free time but very limited funds... I will check out the Carterton meeting but need to join the club first. I'll sort that out during the week. Thanks for the suggestion and I'll keep in touch. Cheers, Peter.
