I’ve run 4 half marathons and am currently training for a marathon (5 months out). I recently discovered your KZbin channel. I know I am commenting on an old video, but I wanted to share how much I love what you are sharing! These tips are so real world and down to Earth. Super useful information in every video!

Did London 21 years ago, hit the wall at the 16 mile mark coming out of Canary Wharf, got 4:12. That was my first ever race, made so many mistakes with fuelling, ended up in the St.John’s ambulance tent at the end. Took about three weeks to recover, though it didn’t put me off running..still going 😊.

Thank god for that. Some people get totally out off by a bad marathon but it’s really just part of the adventure. Right on the limit of what you’re capable of 💪🏻👍🏻😊

Interesting video. I never thought of running a marathon based upon heart rate. I am usually a by "feel". I could totally see where this would be useful. I like your advice -- as someone who has done 27 marathons, I think you nailed most of the caveats. One I would add is that you need to learn to adjust your expectations if the weather isn't gonna work out. If your goal race is 3:30 for instance and it is 80F out, you may want to adjust your expectations. I also agree -- you can't fake your way through a marathon (at least most people can't). If you haven't put in the work, it is going to be a LONG day. Out of curiosity it looks like a lot of signage out there is in English. Is it pretty easy to get around for non Thai speakers?
@ThisMessyHappy3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Eddie and yes that’s a great shout. Weather can very much alter performance and needs to be factored in. Yes the signage is both in Thai and English so that definitely helps a lot. Also google maps is a life saver 😊

Hope your both doing well look very happy! Looks really nice but I don't think I could handle the heat. Lol I'm running the great north run in 2 weeks on Sunday and in wave 3 of 26 so look out for me. 👍 after the last year of injures I had i never thought I'd make the start line but my training is going amazing I've ran 37 miles in the last week, I've had a few months of solid training now. All great advice for the future hopefully for me!
