In college my professor always said(in regards to film festivals or script writing competitions) "if you can't put the effort in to follow the requested standards, then how do they know you followed the rest of the requirements? They don't care if your project goes in the bin, they have hundreds of submissions. Yours could be the best most artistic piece of art ever arted, but that doesn't matter."

As harsh as it is, it's totally understandable. One man fixing 100 renders is much worse than 100 people each fixing 1 render.

Add to that the fact that fixing any of the problems with just the end result is a lot harder than setting the right parameters before rendering.

You can argue that FPS is easy to fix if Clint doesn't use the audio, but everything else is not. And if audio does get used, resampling can do weird unintended things. Quality is compromised and it's all avoided by a couple of simple steps before you hit the render button.

But I did learn a ton @pwnisher that I did do. You know what's crazy, I took my unfinished render and ran it through gen 1 by runway and got some pretty amazing results, I don't know if that would have been allowed in the challenge but the fact that I was able to turn my Mad Max themed render into something that looks like it came straight out of Mad Max by using AI image style transfer to video, I don't even have to do all the work that Niko and the guys had to do when they made rock paper cross blades! Haha, I am the editor of a big dashcam channel, so I have to do deal with loads of garbled footage. =) You wouldn't believe, how many clips come in with a very messy framerate I am starting to wonder, if it's actually the cameras recording bad framerates. We are talking about every 5th frame or something being the same is the one before, so actual doubled frames. It works for automatic tracking, but it sucks for manual tracking and prevends smooth slomos. Often I have sat there and manually removing doubled frames and re-render. When producing own videos, it's very important to me that it's properly made. My purely private videos are way better, than they need to be. Anyway, since I also work in 3D, maybe one day I'll be part of such a challenge. =D
