Positive reinforcement with proper timing is amazing! My girl has never been reactive but as a service dog, I need her to be completely neutral to other dogs and so every time she sees another dog she looks up at me and I give her a treat and then we move on. Now, if she sees a dog, she will automatically stare at me instead of the dog because that’s the more rewarding thing to do.

@@K9Tay we are still dealing with some set backs like dislike of transit but I’m hopping time and positive associations will get her at least tolerating it. Got any suggestions? Iv tried lots of treat and she will take them usually but it doesn’t seem to change her feelings about it

Oh I know what you mean! I got my Shiba and foster kittens and puppies used to being in the car by taking them out for short trips often. Every day we would go out, just 5 min to start with, and gradually we built up the amount of time we were in the car. Shortly after, I was able to drive upwards of an hour and they would just fall asleep in their soft crate in the back seat 😄

Yesterday I was trying to explain to a dog owner (we know each other). He changed the collar of his dog to a choke chain. His dog is only 10 or 11 months old. He always tells me she is not listening, he's frustrated because of that… I was explaining to him what to do, but he's listening to stupid trainers, even paying them money. I'm so sad because of his poor girl. She's not understanding what he wants from her. He's trusting the stupid trainers because they trained a lot of dogs, it's sad. Btw. Thank you for the videos.

It's the blind leading the blind I'm afraid 😞 I hope he comes to his senses one day soon, for his pup's sake! I can say that I followed stupid trainers when my Shiba was young, but I learned real quick that it wasn't right, and I'm so grateful to my old man for the great lessons he taught me ❤️🐺
