A little late to the party, but the angle cut webbing is just to make it easier to feed through the tri-glide buckle. Funny because you fed it through the tri-glide with the pointed end first exactly as you were saying you didn't know why it was cut at a point 😅 Great video!

PFD Types and their performances still confuse me mainly because if you look at US Cast Guard chart a Type I and Type III and Type V can have equal buoyancy rating in foam but still have different performances? So a Type III or V with same buoyancy of Type I will not keep you safe afloat in rapid waters or open seas? Why is that?

Hey! Good questions. The ratings have more to do with environment, how the floatation floats an individual and then each have their own required minimum amount of floatation. Type 1 is considered and offshore (long exposure) and is the highest amount of floatation of them all. Both Type 1 and 2 require that they float an unconscious swimmer face up. Type 3 is nearshore, most typically recreational level PFD's, and Type 5 is special use. Confusing? Yeah, that's the case for most. They are currently in the works of a new rating system to make things simpler for consumers.

Hello! Thanks for the great video! I learned a lot! Quick question: at 13:05 you say you'll "talk about why [you] don't cut down other straps". Did you come back on that and I missed it? What are the reasons why you wouldn't do that? (I never thought of doing that before but I recently bought the new Zen pfd (2019) and those side straps are ridiculously loOoOng!)

The other straps are sewn back over as a stopper so as to prevent them from feeding out.
