Robert--A year ago I started looking for an RV that I could pull with my new Toyota Venza (6 cyl), and found your videos--same tow specs as your Kia. After a year of worrying about tow capacity, we bought a Ford F150 (6 cyl) just last month and then your Kia blew up. Bought a Micro Minnie 2108DS at another show in Maryland (the weekend you were in Hershey). Just got back from the maiden voyage--ten days--including Route 84 into Connecticut in the rain, and stopped at the same lame visitor center that didn't have a map. Ate fried clams in Plymouth--KOAs throughout. You have literally inspired the whole RV experience. The MM is one amazing camper, and I don't think I'd want anything less than the F150 6 cyl (7200 lb tow cap). What I didn't like was the MPG in tow/haul mode--12--I'm getting 24 MPG on the open road without the trailer. I've been wanting to share that for what it's worth. These outstanding videos have been so instructive and fun to watch--we're big fans!
@jpjp38736 жыл бұрын
Hi there, I have a 6 cylinder ecoboost f-150 and we are looking at a micro Minnie 2106ds. How does your truck like the trailer load?
@gamenticus6 жыл бұрын
JP -- Got the truck a month ago and got used to regular driving-- smooth as silk. The tow haul feature changes the gearing and keeps the trans out of overdrive. Completely different sound and feel -- trucky -- but it did fine at 60 - 65 (the MM tires are only rated for 65 so there's that). Definitely not a speedy experience, but thoroughly adequate -- took the mountain grades just fine. My truck does not have ecoboost-- its the 3.5 base, 2015 with the tow package. The 2108DS replaced the 2106DS in 2018 so it's the same trailer --3900lbs. My feeling was that if I add 500 lbs of this and that, I'm still no where near the tow capacity. No load complaints so far.

Crossing from New Hampshire into Maine the scenic route is to exit to US1. Historic York and it’s beaches with a rocky coastline mixed in. The “Hubble ”, Ogunquit, Wells, Kennebunkport all before arriving in Portland. Might want to drive up to Boothbay and Rockport home of LL Bean. A much easier drive than rolling at 75 on the Maine Turnpike just to rush up to Bar Harbor.

Robert, I enjoyed your trip to Maine so very much! I have attempted to drive there on my vacation a few different times. Each time I ran out of vacation time prior to getting to the halfway point. So, I've never made the trip. When I was in college I met someone who spent their annual vacation in Bar Harbor. Your photos were the first ones that I've seen. Without a doubt it is a tourist town, but it looks very nice. Good job with driving the large truck and your trailer. Also, good thing that you were under the 20' length in the campsite in ME. I've got my bags packed, and I fly to Boston tomorrow morning. No RV for me. Maybe an Uber. :). Safe travels to you.

The stone bridges in Acadia are amazing and beautiful! I know Mainers who trailer their horses up and ride or drive thair carriages on the carriage trails. New England is known for its crazy weather - with a saying "if you don't like the weather, wait a minute" lol. If you enjoy mother nature, his is the place, if you don't, you will be bored. There are many artisans like pottery etc scattered thru the state, golf courses on mountainsides or by water. Skiing/snowboarding for the brave souls as well as snowmobiling, dog sledding etc in the winter. Maine is usually the end of the through hike of the Appalachian trail - beautiful but rugged MT. Kahtadin (hope I have spelling correct). Plan on wide temperature fluctuations - hat mittens jacket to shorts n t-shirt or bathing suit. Summer traffic can be a challenge, so bring patience. Cannot forget LL Bean in Freeport, Maine. Brew houses, partisan coffee n ice cream n bakery/donut shops, tons of seafood, so much to explore if have the time. Swimming beaches like Old Orchard Beach - family friendly but like all tourist places, parking goes fast and most places charge for parking. Sorry for the tangent.... There is such variety if you look for it (and don't forget berry picking, Apple picking, pumpkins and corn mazes in fall). Hope you get the opportunity to enjoy at least some of the Maine experience....

I was born in 68, lived in NY til 79, Anyway my parents had a cabin in Maine. We went every summer until late 70's when they got rid of it. Many good memories as a young child of walking WAY out in the ocean when the tide was out and having to run back because it would come in fast. Will go back one day. Also that F250 is to much to pull that camper
