I went to Maine, Bar Harbor specifically, for the first time in 2018. I was gobsmacked by the insane amount of beauty! I'd never seen the ocean in my life(I'm 46) and I've always been completely obssessed with New England but Maine specifically(huge Stephen King fan here). My husband, just recovering from late stage cancer, decided that we needed to begin making memories. We'd been married 24 years and had never been anywhere since our honeymoon; poor guy hates traveling with a passion. So he said to pick a place in America and I picked Maine. Long story short, we are moving there in 2-3 years. We both fell in love with the people, the places, the food, everything. We went back in 2019 and went all over Acadia and so we are moving to Bangor in order to be closer to Acadia. So my husband who hates traveling and hates moving even more has agreed to move! I'm just over the moon about it!

It's interesting how people can go to Acadia and have a completely different list of highlights! I love your style of videos, very comprehensive and educational. I loved "the quiet side" and most of my highlights come from there, like the Acadia Mountain hike, the wonderland trail and the southern point of the quiet side. The hike out to Bar island was also a really cool experience for me.

We retired in the Mount Desert Island just to be near the Park and Bar Harbor. Great place for kids as well. Flying Mountain near Southwest Harbor is a great hike for young hikers ( my 6 year old grandson has enjoyed this hike with his parents since he was 3 - even younger in a pack on his fathers back). The hike takes you to a nice beach area that us old folks can reach by a level fire road that is about a mile long. Also Bubble Mountains are nice hikes for kids and fit older folks ( my 70 year old wife takes these hikes). Echo Lake is great for kids to swim or just splash around in. And we always take a picnic to the Little Long Pond boat house ( this area is heavily used by people exercising their dog). But the Park and Bar Harbor is very crowded in the summer

Very good video! I live in Maine and have been to Acadia many times. A few things to add: 1) I have been on some great whale-watching trips out of Bar Harbor. 2) The Seal Cove Auto Museum on the less populated west side of the island is a bit out of the way, but well worth the trip for those of us who like antique autos. 3) Day Mountain is a nice easier hike for those of us who aren't quite up to the tough climbs. Go when the blueberries are ripe! You can make a loop out of it by going up the trail and down on the carriage road. 4) Bicycle on the carriage roads. 5) There are some nice kayaking lakes and inlets.

We just returned from a week at Acadia. We enjoyed a sea kayak tour and saw a seal colony ( out of Southwest Harbor) and bike rentals from Bar Harbor and riding 16 miles of the Carriage Trails. Great Head Trail (which also goes to Sand Beach) was my favorite. Echo Lake had a great (warmer) swimming beach. We ate our popovers at Asticou Inn and had no wait at all. Sieur de Monts springs area lots of cool trails in that area. there are trails everywhere, hiking up and down to caddilac MT is a great way to beat parking situation. also bring lunch on every hike and eat and soak up the scenery. an Evening cruise on the Margert Todd is awesome as well.

Great job on the video, and maps/diagrams. I'm so sad that you missed the Schoodic portion of the park as that's our favorite. Oh, and add the Wild Gardens of Acadia to your list for next time. There's a great boardwalk through a birch forest - we've been in the winter when it was completely frozen over, and people ice skate in the flooded areas. Looking forward to foliage season this year. The gardens are beautiful during growing season, too.

I've lived 25 minutes from the Schoodic part of the park and an hour away from Bar Harbor for my whole 44 years of life. My mom has worked at the Schoodic Educational & Research Center for 7 or 8 years. I worked in Bar Harbor as a housekeeper, assistant head of housekeeping and front desk at 3 of the hotels there. My tips to anyone planning on coming to our beautiful area... --->Please remember that the natives are not on vacation, we have jobs and appointments we would like to get to on time. If you're just out looking or leaf peeping, pull over where it is safe to do so, often, and let any cars behind you get by. --->Don't always use those sites like trip advisor to get your hotels, call the hotels yourself and ask them what different rates they have for different times of the year. You may save yourself 40 or 50 dollars a night by waiting 1 week. Worth checking. --->Ellsworth is a quick 25- 30 min drive outside of Bar Harbor. If you're going to be out of your room mpre than in it, maybe check out one of the Ellsworth motels/hotels. Some hotels have kitchenettes or at least a fridge and a microwave, grocery stores are still a thing, lol, even on vacay. Eating every meal out is crazy expensive. --->Bar Harbor has a couple different bus options. There's Olly's Trolly, too. Nice to just look around that way. --->Talk to the maids, handymen, front desk workers. Let them tell you about their favorite spot, off the tourist trap route, down some small side road that you would never have spotted for your self. Plus, ask them where they go out to eat. If the locals hit the spot, pretty good chance it's good and affordable. There's more but enough for now, lol. Just rule #1, be a good tourist and it's good to take pics but put the phone/camera down and live in the moment!! *~welcome to Maine

Man, I can't wait to head up for my B day this summer and actually do everything. I visited briefly twice last year making the 6hr drive up from Mass and I've hiked all over MA, NH, VT and other parts of ME, but Acadia was definitely something special. The mountains aren't the biggest, but I swear the sky is bluer and the foliage is greener than anywhere else in the northeast! Plus the fog/mist that rolls over the ocean and gets into the valleys/ over the smaller islands is also a beautiful sight.

Yes, the fall from the Angel’s Landing trail in Zion is much greater than from the Beehive trail, but the AL trail is relatively level and doesn’t require much upper body strength or having to pull yourself up rocks in an exposed setting.

This was fantastic, thank you so much! Arcadia is sooo large it is intimidating. Your map, top 10’s and trails really helps to not go in blindly and immediately get lost! Also, thanks for all the helpful links you included, they’re lifesavers (red ones)!!!

I enjoyed this one a lot. I will never get out East so this was great. I am recovering from kidney cancer surgery and Obama Covid so this cheered me up. Thanks.

Great informative video!!! I grew up in Maine and now live in NC. I’ve been to most of the spots you’ve mentioned and it’s so nice to see them again through this video. I will mention though that in Maine the pronunciation of Schoodic is more like Skoo-dic. It’s definitely worth the trip to Winter Harbor to visit that part of Acadia!! So beautiful there!!

Just visited Acadia this last week. It was my first time to the park. Drove the Park Loop Road once in the evening and once in the morning with a visit to Jordan Pond, and a trip to Cadilac MT. We were there jus a few days before they implemented Reservations and was able to go up with no wait. Thanks for Sharing all the trails. I was with a group of olders that could not hike but will be going back with another friend soon and will hike the trails you suggested. Thanks so Much!

My family had a summer house near Mount Desert every year (with small children) we made sure to visit: Asticou Terrace (an azalea garden with Japanese style features), the Thuya Gardens (amazing kid friendly gardens), and our favorite Little Hunter's Beach near Seal Cove (my daughter got engaged on that beach this past christmas) If we were pressed for time these are the only things we made sure we saw.

That is awesome! The gardens sound wonderful. I would love to see those next time we visit the area. Thanks for sharing your comment and congrats to your daughter on her engagement!

Went to Acadia about a month ago and it was amazing! Jordan Pond was beautiful, but I found it a bit boring after doing Ocean Path. I would start with Jordan Pond, it's a nice low key walk. The south ridge path up Cadillac Mountain was my big challenge (I'm new to hiking), and it was the most satisfying thing I think I've ever done in my life. The most beautiful view at the top, the best reward after all that work to get there! :)

The lady and I did 14 days, mid to late March, and got so lucky with the weather. Such a good time to go; we had the trails to ourselves. Nice videos, thanks for posting :) We recommend six summit loop and mansell and beech mountains. We wish we could have done all of bernard mountain trail, it was so beautiful, but too much ice, even with microspikes :)

Great to hear! Thank you for sharing these spots! I would love to hike Bernard mountain next time we visit!
