updating my bios made the bios boot time go from 45s to 15s, but maybe thats only exclusive to my motherboard/ motherboards made by the same brands
@MultiShane44 күн бұрын
@thisfeelingcalleddespair I didn't consider that either. The motherboard I ended up going with was a Gigabyte B650 GAMING X AX. I'm not sure if that changes whether I should or not
@thisfeelingcalleddespair4 күн бұрын
@@MultiShane4 im not sure, try searching up online, and look at your boot time in too to see if any change can really be made or not. if youre at like 20s boot up time i guess there would be no need for a bios update since i dont thgink it can get any faster than 15 or 20 etc.. but i only updated my bios because i was facing multiple issues, and because the bios update was relatively easy to do with the bios flash option. so, i guess if youre facing issues, a bios update could fix multiple issues, that is, if you are facing any in the first place. but i guess your friend is right. if everyuthing is working perfectly, then i guess you could justr leave it as it is.

There's microcode and performance improvements in BIOS updates so you should do it ASAP. I've updated several motherboards BIOSes this year without issue as long as you're not doing it during a thunderstorm you should be fine. 2-3 minutes and it's worth it. BIOS updates also protect your system at the PCB level and can have other improvements for Memory aswell as protecting your components - 13th and 14th Gen Intel CPU issues. 2-3 minutes updating is better than having to RMA or refund/replace components you've spent alot on money on! Update your BIOS!

If you have dual BIOS, bios flashback or any bios flash button on your motherboard, it almost always means that you have some sort of safety feature in case of corruption. So It's perfectly safe. However, on cheaper motherboards, you may not have that feature.

BIOS update should be in the settings with other updates to be clear instead of going to search what is better for you which is frustrating, and it should be automatic whenever you are online and ON then it just asks you if you want to download it now or should it remind for later on, this would be simpler

The upgrade to Zen 3 Ryzen made BIOS update necessary. Before updating I asked in a forum if it is safe to update: "Yes 100% safe, NOTHING can happen, nothing can go wrong..." Made a thumbdrive with the BIOS on it, restarted the PC and the BIOS update suddenly got stuck after five minutes of updating... after two hours I restarted the PC, and you can guess what happens next, I had to disassemble the whole computer to send the bricked mainboard back. A year or so later AMD made a cool feature called SAM which made another BIOS update necessary. I looked at my bank account - ah good enough money to buy a new mainboard today after it fails again, in this case I can risk another BIOS update or otherwise I will not be able to use Radeon 6000series and AMD SAM. Luckily this time the BIOS update worked flawless, but I have not updated since that day ever again because I cannot risk wasting 200-300€ every time some nonsensical small BIOS update is made from 1.1.1.34.Alpha to 1.1.1.34Beta to 111.34.2Alpha and so on every two months. The BIOS is updated only if ABSOLUTELY necessary to continue the PC being functional. ;)
