How OLD is my Scentsy Bar?

I watched your video yesterday where you were discussing your Mandalorian issues and it was my push to record this. Research was done and your video reminded me - so thank you! Hoarding is something we probably all struggle with. They should clearance out bars past a certain age (maybe 2 years?)

This was a popular one, well said, thank you so much! You schooled me some time ago in peeling back the label for dates, and now I’m like a master surgeon - every bar🤓. I loved learning about the front labels this time, Scentsy nerds unite!! I too receive bars from 2020 and 2021 in club orders. For now, I’m ok with it because the scents I warm need maturing. I find peak scent to be around the one to three year mark. That said, my cut off is four years so I was incredibly displeased when I received (10) 2018 Blackberry Meringue bars from this springs flash sale. I believe the reviews on that particular bar were very mixed, some felt their bars smelled really bad while others were very pleased. I was in the very bad camp and contacted Scentsy for a ‘satisfaction guarantee exchange’ which they honored. All in all it worked out great, but not cool to ship 2018 when one year is recommended- clearance or no clearance. Thanks again for this video!! Everything I know regarding the technical side of bars and warmers has been taught by you. You’re like the best teacher ever! ⭐️🍎🤓

Thank you Patricia! I remember when the clamshells were square and thought it so odd when they first went to the curve shape. I should of saved them, but who knew, lol! Took me a long time before I could see the pour date and on some, still iffy. I recently warmed some bars that were near 10 years, all but one still had good scent! 🥳

I just pulled out an old Flower Shop bar to clear out for the new BBMB. It has the old angular Scentsy logo with the cream colored center and colored edges with the subdued matching stars. I think it's from Jan 2018. It had the numerical barcode and had already switched from the alphanumerical system. I have an old Oxford BBMB with the same style packaging and from my best analysis it is from July 2011. It had an alphabetic bar code SB-OXF. Have an Oatmeal Cookie BBMB from July 2013. By this time Scentsy had all numerical barcodes, but the numbers still weren't yet printed below the barcode. Also a German Chocolate BBMB, again same packaging, from July 2014, but this one has the number printed below the barcode. Bars still smell good!

Thank you Patricia for bringing this up. For the new fall/winter catalogue Orchard Apple Spice was added. My girlfriend ordered a ton of them from our local Scentsy consultant, when they arrived every single one was the flat back and really hard compared to the normal scentsy consistency, so obviously these bars are old even though new to catalogue this fall/winter.

Although that one is likely last years supply, I recall that wax (and similarly Crimson Berry Christmas both “harder” in nature from the start/when it was released) it seems almost dry in nature. I find certain waxes vary in softness and hardness. Another hard style one is Skinny Dippin (from memory)

Love this video .. it feeds my ocd 😂. I always peel back the label if I can’t read the pour date without doing so and gently roll it back down when I’ve found the pour date . Then I put the date on a small sticker on the front and it goes in my stash . When I go through for what I want to melt I try to include any old bars to keep turnover fresh . It’s amazing how many older bars I get when I order new ones although thankfully they seem to age gracefully . Great idea scentsy selling off old stock in a sale say once a year. @@PatriciaG-NosetoToes I recently got a 2020 bar delivered but there’s a lot of 2021 and then obviously 2022 . The 2020 was a stitch angel experiment 624 and it seems perfectly fine .

@@PatriciaG-NosetoToes I do find there’s a knack to peeling it back …carefully and evenly .. and do not really have too many issues although yes you do get the odd one that leaves a residue. .it works for me almost all of the time though . (I’ve now had lots of practice… I’m so sad 😂)

I recently just purchased some Blueberry Rush bars on clearance and when they arrived, I immediately noticed the flat back and discolouration of the wax after having had Blueberry Rush bars before. They also smelled different when warming. I just checked the pour date and it’s February 2018!! They’re 4.5 years old!!!

Most bars in my stash are about 3-4 years old and performing fine. I’m glad you got the older bars at a clearance price. I think any older pours should be clearanced out, but that’s just my opinion. I’m sure juggling all the bars needed for Scentsy club must be tough

I received my club yesterday and it was the first time I got cutie pie cupcake since I added it into my club last June and I received the old BBMB packaging, probably when it was available in December 2020, if I am not mistaken, I was a bit suprised. I also have Love and happiness and they probably used up the "Patricia's bin" 😅 because I received mine in the new package.

You had me curious about my love & happiness bars, so I dug one out, pour date shows 4/19/22, whew! I can’t recall whose video I had watched about this date existing inside of the clam shell, so I’ve been looking for it off and on. Some are easier to see than others. Silhouette was in a flash sale a couple of months ago and this bar was FOUR years old, ugh. I had one bar left from a very long time ago and when I saw it on the sale, I grabbed 4 bars. It is sort of alarming that Scentsy feels comfortable selling bars this old. Before I knew about this pour date, I saw that Silhouette was still in the clearance section, so I grabbed 2 more 😞 but the order this was in had 2 different shipments bc it showed me this was on back order - guess they must have oversold silhouette because it all of the sudden had a new pour date!

Very informative, I started buying Scentsy around August 2020 so it's good to see the changes they have made. I put dates and scent description on my bars when I get them but it's nice to look at the notes when the wax is warming. I'm still learning scent notes, some are very distinctive but others are not. I really liked this video. It's fun to see the changes throughout the scenty years. I was wondering today, as I was in my bathroom taking a shower. I have a mini warmer in my bathroom with wax in it and it's on. Does the moisture from the running shower affect the warmer in any way? I was thinking that , yes, it might. But is it drastic enough to warrant a concern in your opinion? Just random thoughts. Thanks , Trish

I doubt it would unless it was long term constant exposure to moisture. The scent throw is affected by heat and humidity but otherwise I wouldn’t worry personally

Yes - In the “Scentsy Wax FAQs” (I’ll copy / paste --> in case others find helpful too) Do Scentsy Bars expire? We recommend that bars be used within a year to ensure an optimal fragrance experience, but your customers can still enjoy bars after this time frame, especially if they follow correct storage methods. How should I store my wax bars? Keep them in a cool, dark place. Bars should be stored flat, with the label facing up, whenever possible. Rotate older bars to the front to make sure they are used first. Wax shouldn’t be left in direct sunlight for an extended period of time. Bars shouldn’t be stored near a heat source or in the car; they will melt. Storing Scentsy Bars in the freezer should also be avoided, as extremely cold temperatures may diminish fragrance quality. Hope that helps! God knows I’m lucky to get to warm many of mine within 5 years!! 🤦🏼‍♀️

Have you ever gotten a new bar with no scent? I just got a Butter Pecan for the first time cause I heard it was a rather strong scent. I have it going in three warmers and nobody can smell it! I can’t smell even when I leave and come back. No smell nothing 😩

I was gifted a Thank You bar thats I think from early 2014. Besides that I’d say mid 2016 (original pours of Sweet Plum Pastry)
