I remember hating what Curry was doing at the time as they were one of our biggest rivals before the Kawhi saga. Still, when Steph Curry retires, I will shed a tear. The impact that he made on this sport is insane for just one man. I was happy for him to win his Finals MVP and even happier to see his clutch performances win the US the gold medal this year. Because Durant joining Warriors, curry had to take back seat and we just couldn’t see what another season of unanimous Curry would have been. Well done! I remember watching that game at a bar in Oakland, and the feeling we all had when he picked up his dribble. It was one collective silent "No way!" I also remember the reports right after the game drastically underestimated the distance. I saw plenty in the 20s... people just couldn't process that it was so deep. Fortunately, I had been recently looking at court dimensions so I knew exactly what he was choosing to do. The thing no one ever mentions is that if you watch the Warriors from the camera behind the other bucket is that the rest of the team isn't really trying to get back or open. Klay is the only one downcourt, and he's way over on the right wing. It's like they knew Steph was just going to take it from somewhere and they were watching too.
