Another related butterfly effect is that Kyle Larson ended up at Hendrick because he got dropped from Ganassi over his iRacing livestream incident. According to a tweet made earlier the day of the incident, he had a chance of not being free that night to hop on iRacing. If he ended up booked that night-which had a decent chance of happening-he doesn’t go to Hendrick and maybe isn’t the star driver of this generation.

When Trackhouse started, it was a one-car team for Daniel Suarez. When they acquired Chip Ganassi's Cup team and its two franchises, it expanded to a two-car team. Yea, he probably gets to stay his ass at the hou from '21-on Gordon, probably goes to Bill Davis in cup like he already was going to, Johnson might join him or even go the Robby Gordon route of dipping into multiple forms of motorsport while still in his prime, something the contract with Hendrick forbade. Personally, I believe that exactly how "dire" Hendrick's situation was going into this race has been exaggerated in later retellings. At no point during the radio broadcast did anyone say anything that would indicate that they might not be back next week. Bodine certainly didn't sound like a guy who was facing possible unemployment in his victory interview. They did say that they had a team meeting where they discussed whether or not their team was capable of winning yet. To which Bodine apparently answered "absolutely". But if Allison's brakes had lasted all day and he finally got that elusive grandfather's clock, I think a strong second would be more than enough of a morale boost to keep them going until Nashville, which they won more convincingly. Also, don't sell Bodine's Martinsville skills short. He'd won there ten times already between Modifieds and the predecessor of Busch. Yeah, his average finish in Cup wasn't great, but he'd also spent the last two years driving for a team that won twice in twenty years.

Jeff Gordon is the best Headrick Motorsports driver, and that will probably never change. Jimmie Johnson is great too,but he wasn't the best in four of his championship seasons, like 2007 and 2016. Speaking of 2007,let's talk about that season. Gordon had 6 wins,21 top fives and 30 top tens. He also had the best average finish of all drivers that season. But Johnson had 10 wins,20 top fives, and 24 top tens. He won 4 in a row which give him the championship that year. Gordon had to settle for second instead. Under the Latford system,he wins the championship over Johnson by 300 plus points. What effected Jeff Gordon for the next 8 years of his career was the COT and Gen 6,a back injury at Vegas in 2008,crew chief changes, and double file restarts. Then in 2014,Gordon may be eliminated because of a bad run at Texas,as well as a fight with Brad Keselowski, but if Gordon and Keselowski were teammates at HMS,Rick Headrick would be upset that his drivers are fighting. Then at the final race at Homestead,Gordon led the most laps and he would've won. Right? No. He was told to come down pit road and give the win and championship to Kevin Harvick. NASCAR played favoritism tours Kevin Harvick that night. They also played favoritism tours Dale Earnhardt Jr at the 2003 Aaron's 499. Larry Mac was like "It's gonna be borderline, guys! It's gonna be borderline!" But DW was like "It would be unpopular to black flag him!" Eventually Junior did not get a penalty. They did not play favoritism tours Jimmie Johnson when he won 5 championships in a row. He was just making history. But under the Latford system,Johnson only has 2006,2009,and 2013,while Gordon has not just 95,97,98,and 01,but also 04,07,and 2014 as well. Fans are saying Dale Earnhardt's death killed NASCAR. It did not. It was the Playoffs that killed NASCAR. Dale Jr sould've won the 2004 Aaron's 499 instead of Jeff Gordon, and Dale Sr and Jr are the real Golden Boys. I don't care if Ryan Blaney called Kyle Larson golden boy. Chase Elliott is real Golden Boy in 2024. The reason why is because he wrecked Denny Hamlin at Charlotte and if that never happened,Hamlin is in the final four instead of William Byron. Headrick sould've won in 2022 with Elliott and 2023 with Byron and maybe this year with Larson. Why someone like Tyler Reedrick win? We'll have to find out.

Hard to say what would have happened to someone like Johnson. His stats were unremarkable and if Gordon hadn't had any influence, might have ended up with a mediocre team. We saw the alternate universe already for Larson. Hendrick wouldn't have picked him up, and SHR couldn't get him either. Might have had his best days at Ganassi and then be relegated to a mediocre team and fill in the back of the field occasionally.
