The transition towards open source software is happening in the Pharmaceutical industry with companies turning to R / Shiny and Python to revolutionize their processes in drug development, translational research, quality control, manufacturing, and sales. We are at a moment where cutting-edge tools developed by global communities are mature and ready to be used.
Successful implementations of R/Shiny and Python-based applications improve the decision-making process and increase revenue, but they also empower research scientists by providing faster access to information and dedicated tools for data exploration. However, simply implementing these tools is not enough and to truly see success, they must be thoughtfully designed with the end-user in mind, adhere to GxP and high software quality standards, and have a user-friendly interface that promotes adoption.
We are going to look at three case studies in the Pharmaceutical industry where R / Shiny is transforming the way that Pharma handles their data and examine the key elements necessary for success. The presentation will highlight how the R and the Shiny framework provides the right tools to automate processes and gather new insights into sales, manufacturing and drug development while empowering research scientists to implement their vision.
