There is one interesting fact about Orban and Soros relationship. Orban actually studied in Soros supported university in Hungary, so he is well versed in what are actual Soroses intentions for Europe. Edit: I dont mean that I support Orban. He is same piece of s**t as Soros about how he is treating Hungary (turing Hungary into oligarchy and restarting tensions with Croatia about access to Adriatic sea trade routes and oil/gas price manipulation in Croatian market.

The main argument against Orbán that I hear on the streets here, is that he is secretly a gypsy (conspiracy theory) or that he is corrupt (definitely true). Quite shocking to see the opposition using the first, and very telling that people bring up the second. People don't dislike his policy so much, they mostly dislike his corruption. An opposition that focuses on liberal ideals of the west will never succeed here, and we clearly saw that during the last national elections. My recommendation for the opposition: do not oppose what people like. Work together with the government to get rid of the things that people hate (i.e. corruption). Isolation and polarisation have never had good outcomes.

It is factually true that Hungary throughout its history was more often than not a victim and not an agressor. The animosity against Jews is not justified, but somewhat understandable when you take into consideration the massive Jewish presence in both of Hungary's communist dictatorships' leadership roles (Béla Kun, Mátyás Rákosi and many others). Hungary has a right to place its interests in the center in contrary to international interests when it comes to deciding its sovereign fate. Soros is not a philanthropist, he's an oligarch that promotes a Western liberal hegemonic world order through a web of his NGOs and his aim to undermine national sovereignity, he openly admitted this in his memoirs because as an internationalist plutocrat who got rich by performing economic hitjobs against countries adverserial to theWestern liberal hegemonic world order he has no loyalty to any country and naturally he feels threatened by nationalism. History is not black and white.

I think the wariness of the Hungarians to accept large swaths of Muslim communities into their own, and their warnings of what that might entail, is being well borne out in what we see occurring across so many Western European nations today. Exponential spikes in crime and sexual assaults on women; complete “no-go” areas for law enforcement and emergency services; in some cases, even absolute bedlam (see France 2023). No, I think the Hungarians are well within reason and their rights, to wish to quash these trends before they even get a toehold.

As a Korean-American, this video is particularly fascinating to me as these countries rhetorics mirror the current political climate of S. Korea in a similar way. In Korea, both sides of the political isle has frequently used victimhood against the Imperial Japanese occupation and establishing questionable national heroes to gain political support. However, it has been used far more frequently by the left side in recent years as it is not in China, N. Korea, and Russia's interest for Korea to grow close to Japan and the U.S.. There is massive propaganda efforts from the three countries' ethnic Korean population using the internet, which helps the Korean liberals. As a side note, some of these so called national heroes of Korea are recorded to to have terrorized ordinary Korean citizens in order to gain financial backing for their freedom fighting efforts. Yet, Korean textbooks will not detail these heroes' lives in order to skew viewpoints. Japan has taken a similar path in terms of history post WWII. Many of the younger generation Japanese these days think the U.S. nuclear bombings were simply an retaliatory, show-of-force, over reaction for a small skirmish during a worldwide imperial waring era and had to be tolerated because the U.S. was a superpower and Japan was weak. If I was a founding father of a random country, I think it would be important to establish the department of history, institutionally independent from political interference, kind of how central banks work.

Lmao you completely leave out the fact that south koreas military and many senators arent even koreans they are americans, destroyed their own culture for christanity (even japan didnt do this) and now multilate their penises, you are a defacto client state of the usa, a bulwark against “le ebil commies” funny that china has barely done anything to korea yet the right wingers pretend that china is the big bad that has done worse than japan, and its not even the left wing, lots of right wingers who actually like imperial rule bash america,
@Carthodon3 ай бұрын
The problem is that it can only be considered "independent" of political interference if by political you mean the government, and that really doesn't work so long as the department knows the budget can be cut if it does stuff the government doesn't like. In Western countries you see an almost complete domination of academic institutions by the political left which isn't present because the government forces institutions to be left wing, it just indicates that certain industries will be dominated by one political persuasion or another.

The claim that Hungary defended Europe frm the Islamic invasions isn't even true at all... Serbs, Romanians and Greeks have fought more battles for the continent that Hungary did. Even Hungary's greatest King, Matthias Corvinus, fought no battle against the turks. He wanted the Holy Roman crown and attacked his christians brothers and took parts of their land. When the turks came in 1526 after just 2 months there was no more Hungary on the map until 1867 when they made Austria-Hungary

Intresting analysis, not as hysterical as many 'analysis' of Orbans Hungary often are, and a very well made video. However implying that using history to instil pride, unity and further your political goals is somehow evil in Hungarys case is pretty tenious. All ruling political structures and ideologys use history and take their own interpretations of it, or in some cases totally subvert it. Fostering a love for your people, unity and encouraging sovereignty is one of the healthiest things a nation can do, it encourages the people to hold their heads high, feel unity with their comrades and take inspiration for their own goals in life. It is vastly more constructive than condeming all your ancestors as evil and bigoted in a nihilistic way, a bit of self criticisim is good, but doing the later fosters nihilisim, self hatred and subversion from people like Soros. And as for endless cries of victimhood, well we all know that Soros'es relations are the gods of that. Also would've been good to mention that Bella Kun the dictator of communist Hungary in 1919 was Jewish, as well as Matyas Rakosi the Stalinist dictator who contributed hugely to the subsequent Hungarian revoloution, and just because it's called the open socity foundation dose'nt make it good. Pravda 'truth' the Soviet newspaper told prety much the oposite of truth.
@occam7382 Жыл бұрын
There's a huge difference between fostering national pride to instill a love of country in a people, and using that national pride as a justification to do horrible things like stamp out open discourse/criticism, expel or murder one's own people in the name of "purification", or invade and subjugate other countries in the name of strengthening one's own nation. And Viktor Orban has very much been doing the latter. Obviously, he hasn't been murdering his own people or invading other countries (yet), but he certainly has been using it to discriminate against minorities in Hungary as well as turn Hungary into an authoritarian state.
@danielnyc1237 ай бұрын
On the surface level, yes the Hungarian government’s relationship with Hungary’s Jewish community is good. The government provides funding, supports private Jewish schools, maintains Jewish cultural sites, etc.. Yet, Hungary’s Jewish community does not let this money blind them and many understand that the Hungarian government is rewriting history in a way that denies Hungarian involvement in the Holocaust, this has left a sour taste in the mouths of many in the Hungarian Jewish community.

I hear everything you’re saying but I’m not sure why you have such a problem with it. Orban’s occasional voting with Russia is one thing, as is his flirtation with authoritarianism, but you didn’t go after him for either of those things here. Instead it seems like you simply believe that national pride and/or national foundation narratives are in some way inherently bad…
@IMPERIALYT Жыл бұрын
Idk, my perspective here was more that he uses national pride to present an airbrushed, and therefore not entirely accurate version of history to Hungarians for political gain. You’re welcome to criticise that perspective of course
@TheLocalLt Жыл бұрын
@@IMPERIALYT I just don’t see how Orban is doing anything different (in terms of presenting national history) from Austria calling itself the “first victim of Naziism” when of course it was one of the staunchest areas of Nazi support. Countries are always going to paint a positive narrative about themselves, mainly for use in national celebrations and for teaching young children, though I do believe all countries should of course teach a more unvarnished version of history as kids start to get into middle/high school when kids are ready to examine more complex issues.
@es2139 Жыл бұрын
@@TheLocalLt I think the creator is, in this regard, rather tonedeaf about how societies work. ALL societies try to present their collective histories in a positive light, because this is what inspires confidence, community and the desire for greatness within its members. That is what all societies since the beginning of time and on all 4 corners of the world and in all stages of civilisation have done and still do basically everywhere but in Western Europe and the Anglosphere. Go and ask a person from Morocco, China or India about their history and you're not going to get a nuanced take there either. Societal history isn't about "scientific accuracy", it is about fostering a communal spirit in society and this is what Orban and others like him are doing. People don't identify with a dry, endlessly nuanced scientific diatribe about their history, their nation or their people, and neither do they with tales about a broad group like "humanity", which includes races and cultures, which have a completely different disposition and historical background, which they can't even fathom to understand. This entire issue is then even more absurd, when you consider, that in countries like Germany, but increasingly also in other Western countries, there has been an ever growing push to normalise another narrative, a narrative of guilt and shame. A narrative, which tries to frame the histories, cultures and nations as uniquely evil by dishonestly using the same tactics used by people like Orban (selectively presenting history), only this time, not to inspire people and uplift them, but to shame, demoralize and humiliate them. Orban uses the Ottomans, Russians and Germans to tell the tale of Hungarian struggle for self-determination, the Western nations use Slavery, Colonialism and the Genocide to tell the tale of Western moral depravity, despite the fact, that, of course, all of these evils were perpetrated by every racial and cultural group on Earth, often with far greater severity and brutality .One shouldn't pretend here, that these "pain points", as he calls them, aren't constantly brought up in contemporary politics to reinforce this sort of narrative, as if for instance in German politics, the Nazis or the Holocaust aren't constantly brought up, when anyone proposes something even slightly left of center or how left-wing politicians in the US aren't frequently drawing a straight line between slavery and the modern criminal justice system. To the US-Blacks, the slavery narrative actually serves a pretty similar role to whatever Orban is doing, it is a unreflected historically inaccurate victim narrative, which primarily serves to shift the blame for the lower position of the black population in society onto the white majority to deflect any blame from primarily left-wing (and often black) politicians (such as those, which run majority black cities) and to give the population a convenient target for their anger. The big difference here remains however, that the black establishment never offers a story of heroism or self-determination, which could possibly inspire any greatness. And the same thing is true for the Jews by the way, whose self-imposed victim narrative existed well before the Nazis or the Holocaust. None of these narratives are criticised or disected in this video. Ironically, the creator actually defends the insistance of the Jews on their victim narrative, when he criticizes the Hungarian WW2-Museum, when it doesn't focus enough on the victimhood of the Jews and the crimes of the Hungarian population but then turns around and criticises the Polish representatives for demanding more Polish representation in the WW2 museum on their own soil. The same thing is of course true for other things as well, like people not wanting their countries flooded by foreign migrants, who don't share your culture and values, don't speak your language, are usually far less educated than their own population and are far more likely to be involved in criminal activity. If you were to ask a Moroccan, Chinese or Indian, how they would feel about having their country flooded with millions of Sub-saharan African immigrants, I think you can imagine, how they would respond to this. India or Israel among many other countries have fixed barriers to ensure, that illegal immigrants are kept out of the country and noone cares, but when Hungary or the US starts to construct such an installation, it immediately becomes a representation of racism, xenophobia and all the like. And people in Hungary probably didn't start flocking around Fidesz, because Orban's narrative was so inticing, but they probably rather just looked towards Germany or France and saw how much fun they were having with the new arrivals from the Middle East. The entire video just fails to make a sensible point. What it describes isn't necessarily wrong, but it just leaves you at the end saying "And, so what?". Of course Orban uses history to bolster his position, that's what any leader does. Of course he is appealing to the sensibilities and cultural focus points, that's just like an American appealing to freedom or their fight against Nazi Germany, the USSR and the like, or increasingly to Slavery, the Native American displacement etc.. The creator is setting a supposedly objective standard for the treatment of history, culture and population, but isn't ready to apply that same standard to other groups as well. Why is it of no concern, when every other country on Earth has an "airbrushed" national history, a well defined national culture, which they don't want to have subverted by NGOs or other undemocratic institutions funded by internationalist billionaires or a people, which they don't want to have marginalized. Why is this ever only a problem, when it is a country like Hungary doing it, so much so, that it merits the creation of an entire 17-minute video on this channel?

@IMPERIALYT2 жыл бұрын
Hi there! I was referring to German occupied Ukraine - I should have used a better map in this instance you are correct. This is the territory which I'm referencing en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reichskommissariat_Ukraine

First of all, us Serbians were the ones being border control between the ottomans and Austro-Hungary. Second of all, there were many Hungarian collaborators in WW2, just an example: the throwing of Serbs under the ice of a semi frozen Danube in Novi Sad in January of 1942.

8:54 You would find similar sentiments in every country where there is a sizeable Muslim community without being a majority. Saying that isolationism and insular politics are somehow bad is just plain naive intellectual fantasy disassociated from reality. Japan is the quintessential example for it so was Korea before the war. Insularity allowed them to stave of excessive diversity and thus consolidate political and drive economic growth when the opportunity presented itself. Accepting refugees is Sociopolitical political suicide for the existing numerical majority for the singular reason that the people that are immigrants bring with them their own cultural differences, languages, religions, customs and social outlooks and expect the existing majority to be accomodating. Equivalent of somebody coming into my home without my permission and asking me to be accomodating, the problem rises two or three generation after the initial immigration thats when the successors of immigrant families start feeling disenchanted for reasons ranging from an identity crisis to a sense of alienation resulting from different cultural outlooks and will ask for more from the majority in terms of political representation and cultural visibility aka power and every seat or token of representation gained by the minority eats into the majority's existing share of the whole, because that's how math works. Of course grand righteous delusions of the centre and far left Intellectuals might propel idiots in the academia, business and elite class to embrace the migrant disease. But the protests in Europe in the after math of George Floyd's death was a telling reminder of the history of Europe in Africa not to mention the middle East which is a whole another hornets nest. Accepting immigrats or refugees from other countries that speak different languages practice different religions and have phenotypical features that stand out in a general crowd is patently stupid and carcinogenic to society. Ofcourse now European and Intellectuals see this as racist, but give it time, your people will learn. Societies much older and illustrious than yours have you wont be any different no matter how many diversity/inclusion fetish one might engage in, You are one clear cut famine or economic disaster away from a real crisis especially since all you seem to be doing is policing the behavior of the majority. Rule of thumb when it comes to governance is numbers matter in the long run. The are all that matters in the long run and Number always favours the >. Relatively homogenous societies are not multicultural despite what they claim, There is a majority in each and every one of the European states. what I fear is during the last World War Jews where persecuted despite being a miniscule population that was the most productive group with in the society, despite that or perhaps because of it, they endured untold pain and suffering, this was a group that never harmed a single European(German), Now Imagine Muslims in Europe since 9/11, the number of attacks perpetrated in the name of their god. Put them in contrast and the people who facilitated this mentally retarded open arm border policy will singularly be responsible for every far right crime Europe is bound to see in its future, add to that he growing assertive muslim population. You have a perfect powder keg. At least real or not insularity gives a certain sense of control.

It's a very biased video, essentially portraying Orban as an evil racist dictator and a historical revisionist.

@@advakart4208 This isn't about refugees, but about preserving my ancestors heritage and fighting against those who wish to slander it out of irrational hatred and disdain. As for your second point, my goal isn't to go to an echo chamber. It is rather to engage the brainwashed and the ignorant to either make them understand the truth , or at the very least to change the minds of others who might read what I've written later. I don't run from debate, I welcome it.

Agreed. The left wouldn’t get it and they just continue believing that all cultures on Earth were somehow created to be fitted with one another equally. Such disastrous thinking has led Europe to astray, while Japan and Korea, the two most homogenous countries, have been able to keep their cultures and societies peacefully intact.
