It has long been a dream of mine to ride the Trans-Siberian Railway. I was actually in the process of planning the trip when Russia invaded Ukraine. It is still on my bucket list, but obviously isn't gonna happen any time soon...

"Durr it was a gigantamania project by an autocrat" You realize it not only paid for itself 1000 fold, it also saved the Russians during WWII. In December of 1941 when the Germans were only 29 kilometers from the Kremlin, there were only about 10,000 infantray defending Moscow from over a million Germans ready to attack the city. As the Germans paused to await supplies for the final push, the soviets loaded all their armies defending the east against Japan onto trains and shipped them from Kamchatka along the Manchurian border, back to Moscow in time to save the country.

According to available information, the construction of the Trans-Siberian Railway, when converted to today's dollars, cost roughly between $770 million and $1 billion in today's US dollars. By way of comparison, in the 2024 US presidential campaign, Kamala Harris spent approximately $1.3 Billion USD.

I became very curious of Iran's religious fundamentalist practices after the death of Masa Ahmini. Many young Iranian's have been fighting for more secular and progressive values for years and it's a shame they're voices are quelled, even now in the modern day.

Crazy that when western countries put images of their history or culture on things its normal. But when Russia does it its propaganda

Is there any other country in the world that changes their currency every 25 years ? Fun fact ; the bills from the last series are convertible after one year only at the HQ of the National Bank of Switzerland in Bern…! I wonder how much in benefits are noted from banknotes not coming back !

Youre not fully right. Everybody can send by postal mail lets say 5 old Notes to Swiss Central Bank and get those replaced by new ones.
